The burrito goes in the taco, and nine months later a taquito arrives! :p

I was very interested in a SO Pro, and my local dealer, that I bought two brand new vehicles from 2 years ago, actually got one in...However, they added a $1,900 mark up fee to the sticker and tried to make it seem like it's for some tire and paint warranty. They won't take less than $55,512 plus tax. And they've had it sitting by the highway for a few weeks now. I told my friend that works there that they are price gouging and cheating customers. I think I made him mad. I contacted another dealer further away about a MGM Pro they have, and they are adding a $7,500 mark up to the sticker!! These things can rot on the lots with these mark ups for all I care...I'm so sick of this gouging.

I contacted a bunch of dealers when I was looking for mine....I'm getting 2 or 3 calls a week now that their allocations are starting to show up. Most still have market adjustments and all have had roughly 2 grand of junk added to the sticker. I got lucky to get mine at MSRP.

Yup. I traveled just under 1200 miles to get mine at MSRP with no accessory bloat or "packages" tacked on.

I agree - the price gouging is ridiculous and unnecessary, though unfortunately it’s far too common. I private party sold my 2021 DCSB OR in November as prices seemed to have peaked, and was just taking a wait/see attitude towards a Pro. Our local dealer had a couple coming in but since they ‘Don’t sell over MSRP’ they add packages instead. All of their Pro’s get a lift, winch, tires, wheels or some combination of for about $7995, and they weren’t coming off that. After doing some checking with dealers in Oregon and Washington - seemed that most of what I found was pre-sold, and the ones that weren’t had ADM’s. I went back to the local store and gave it one more college try - standing close to the sales office politely but firmly told them I WAS going to buy a Pro at some point but would like to buy it locally, then asked the sales guy “how much over MSRP DO they want”? The sales guy went into the managers office and brought out a printout of an incoming SO Pro and said they would sell that one AT MSRP. It had a few port adds, but mostly things I would have added at some point anyhow, our state “luxury tax” / sales tax is 1% and reg for 4 years including DOC is about $500 - so total adds to MSRP just about $1000 and I do understand those are state fees, or dealer fees (other than the $150 DOC which is pretty much unavoidable in our area). After some thought on it decided I wanted another Taco and a Pro this time and that dealing local was good, and it all went pretty smoothly from there, other than them trying to squeak in a “VIN etch” deal for $399, which is basically a pack of poorly applied stickers, to which I said absolutely no and they made the warranty pitch which for me makes zero sense but that was about it. Was paying cash and they wanted a bank check - NO personal check - at delivery so that shut all that funny business down anyhow - all of a sudden though they were ‘willing’ take take a personal check or credit card, or wait for payment of that stuff which I find interesting to say the least. After 40 years in the car business I really get tired of the dance, but understand it’s just a part of the game these days, although the dealerships I ran made plenty and earned tons of referral business by NOT playing markup, or trade in under-valuing games.
Something I have noticed since I do surf around a bit watching the market is that some of the Pro’s (as well as other TRD product in desirable packages and colors) that were “Pre-sold” are showing up on the same dealers used car lots as “used” with 4-10 miles on them and at 10k plus over what MSRP was. Maybe that’s how they ‘justify’ additional dealer market that they claim to ‘never charge’. You’d think Toyota would watch that, but maybe they just don’t care. Who knows?

Wish Georgia tax was that cheap....I got clipped for right at $3500 and all that goes to the state....My yearly tag fee is only $20. There are a few dealers in the south playing the used 2022 and 2023 Pro with around 1000 miles at $15,000 over MSRP game as well.

My county sales tax is 10.3% and WA state adds 0.3% on top of that for vehicle purchases. In addition, I’m in one of three counties that has a regional transit tax that pays for the light rail infrastructure so my yearly tab renewal is around $600.

Im all for the transit tax, but man, it’s quite a hit on my wallet every year.

Damn. Sales tax in Wyoming is determined by each county, and none are real high. Doesn't matter what you buy, it's the same rate, but some don't have a tax on unprepared food/groceries. The annual registration is another story, and it's one of the things people moving here are always shocked by. It's based off the MSRP of the vehicle and only goes down for the first 5 years, then it stays at that price for the life of the vehicle. Initial tags for my Taco were about $1,000, but I transferred my Tundra's plates to save a bit. I just looked up next year's and it'll be $788.35.

    50Buck,

I was looking at the older orange colors -- I loved the older colors, but I can't have a life preserver (lambo) orange truck parked in the street in my conservative neighborhood. It will be on its way to Carmax as soon as I get the title. Being the FNG here I cant do certain things here.

Screw the neighbors. If they don't like it they can cry. It's yours and if you like it, keep it!

The wife is who really doesnt like it.. So in the end it doesnt matter. I looked at a wrap, but the glow of the orange would leak through at the gaps.

I'd suggest a private sale. You'll get more, and the SO is a hot color. It'll sell easy for everything you paid for it.

Mine hates it too! And for that reason alone I will keep my Solar Octane forever. I traded my 23 Lunar Rock Tundra for my 23 Tacoma SO which made it so much worse for her. I love it!
