Well, I'm thinking of adding this amp behind the stock head unit. Can I get the 12 volts from the head unit positive wire to power this. The manual states the fuse is above 15 amps. If I can, does anyone know which color wire is the positive. Also, if I can't, can I tap into the cigarette lighter wire? I have to find out if it is at least on a 15 amp fuse. Thanks for your help. I have a 2022 SR5 Double cab.

It’s worth it to just get a 10awg power wire kit and run to the battery. It’s easy and removable. I personally never suggest splicing into factory wires if it’s avoidable.

Thanks for the reply. I will take your advice and be extra careful. I hope I can find an easy way thru the fire wall. Should I run the ground to the battery also?

No, a body ground is fine. There are several places in the dash that work fine

Just one more question. If the yellow is a constant hot to the battery, what do I do with the red wire which is supposed to be on an accessory\switched circuit. The amp is supposed to sence when the radio is turned on and turn on automaticly. Is the red not used in this case?

I think in the alpine wiring it’s blue? Been a while since I’ve worked with one. Either way, some people say the auto-turn-on works fine and some people don’t. I would see if it works without it. If it doesn’t, that wire is fine to go to the cig lighter

Mine works fine with the auto on feature. Please update on where you grounded. I tried 4 different grounding locations and still have a hissing noise from the speakers that's only noticeable if the engine is off, music off, and you've got your ear to the speaker.

It is going to be a while before I get everything together. I am looking at the ground that comes off the battery and goes right to the fender on my truck. I was going to run a battery wire and a ground wire at the same time.

Contrary to popular belief, the ground location is not the only thing that causes noise.

There are several things going against you in this install

-a naturally noisy amp. It’s small and cheap and very power efficient, but that means there are sound-quality sacrifices
    -speaker-level wiring
-All the wiring and the amp itself are shoved in the dash with lots of other electronics

you’re welcome to run a ground to wherever, but unfortunately, don’t expect it to fix the issue

Well. another baloon shot down. I appreciate your honest imput and may just put this whole amp install to bed. This is what I did so far. I put in the Subaru tweeters and upgraded all the speakers with Kickers. Then I wired the rear speakers to the front so I now have a 2 channel head unit and the rear speakers sound better. It dosen't sound that bad to me. I will save my money and take it to the man for a professional amp install with quality parts in the future.

I had mine in the center console no problems . Just need to extend wires . Lot less crowded up by head unit

    Yup!

It slightly annoyed me at first but the improved sound was still worth it. I've thought about going with a nicer quality amp, then I'd want to get even nicer speakers, then head unit, then rabbit hole....
