I got my 12 volt electric blanket today.

I'm thinking about rigging up some makeshift power supply with the AGM batteries I've been acquiring at work. I do a lot of fire alarm panel swaps, and they always install new batteries. Sometimes the old ones are only a few years old.

I figured I could run a few in parallel for more capacity, and hook up a 12 volt outlet to run the blanket. We'll see if I even have time to mess with this before the trip. If I do, it'll be pretty hacky.

Um, there was a marine/RV deep cycle battery included with your purchase on Saturday. Granted, I know nothing about batteries... can you make that work for something?

Good question. I didn't want to make a guess because I'm not familiar with where we'll be and how long we plan to be on trails to get to our destination near Picnic Point, if that is indeed our destination.

We could do breakfast at 8, hit the road at 9. That would give anyone driving up in the morning the option to just meet at 9.

I thought about that, too. I'm not sure if I can fit that under my platform. I could definitely make it work. I just thought it would be more fun to rig something up that I can leave in the 4Runner eventually.

Oh, I'm not that kind of electrician. There will be more "hackery" than wizardry involved. :anonymous:

Sorry gents I won't be making this trip due to a new job and the fact that my wife wants to go to the RV show that weekend. I look forward to other events.

I'll be camping at #14 but not sure when I'll get there. Probably won't be until late unless a miracle happens and I can escape work early. Wish I could make the early fish fry, jealous for those of you who do get to partake!

I'm good with breakfast at 8. If you don't see me up at a reasonable time please wake me up before leaving camp, I seem to have problems with my alarm clock on TW trips LOL!

We'll catch you at the next one. Have fun at the RV show.

BTW, where is the RV show?

This works for me. Meet at Gimis' or the trailhead? And where is the trailhead? The Mrs. and I probably won't make breakfast, but you never know.

We could just try to meet up in Gimi's parking lot to keep it simple. We'll probably jump on the trail at HWY 54 and Waterbury road. It's hard to tell from satellite images if there's room there to pull over and meet up.

Nice! Post pictures of whatever you end up buying. ;)

I agree, Gimi's is a good meeting spot. Seems to have a decent sized parking lot based on Google maps aerial images. Overflow room in the bank parking lot next door.

Just so everyone is clear are we saying Gimi's breakfast meet at 8am, then depart straight from Gimi's around 9am?

    Yes.

It looks like the north parking lot is bigger, so we could all try to park in the northernmost row

We'll see everybody at Gimi's. I'm bringing the dogs. Too long of a day to leave 'em home.
