I see them around here some, more the closer you get to the big city. Definitely never seen one off pavement though.

Yeah I would encourage her to look at those if she were up for a used one, we definitely don't need to be looking at spending new Lexus money that's for sure

the Rav was used but belonged to her aunt and uncle before they sold it to her, and her uncle is a car/motorcycle guy that takes good care of his vehicles

They don't have portals from Mercedes, but there are aftermarket portals.

Also I just learned there's a short wheelbase version

Yeah I forget if it isn’t over 80K it’s peasant material.

I drove my housemate's 4WD ~2019 Tahoe LTZ for some reason a while back. Thing was a spaceship.

I thought certain models of them came with portals from factory?

this is just a quick google search so I could def be wrong, it's just weird that they'd offer that in this market. I could see it being popular in Dubai or someplace where they take their crazy expensive SUVs out in the dunes and such

Ah, I'll revise my statement then... not all G-Wagons have portals, but when oil money is concerned anything is possible.

when we were at my brother's last week, his wife's little brother left his Chevy Colorado Z71 (Z72?) at their house for a few days, one of those with 4wd and front/rear lockers and that weird multimatic suspension. The rear shock mounts are super low on those things, seems like they'd be the first thing to get bent/broken on any rough terrain

Yeah all the new trucks are pretty fancy even in low trim. My Dad has the most base Sierra 1500 you can get and it is still extremely comfy and feature packed.

I mean ya a G63 is the ultimate dream but not on our incomes lol
Easier said than done. Only American car in the last decade is the cts-v wagon. Japan has nothing besides Subaru turds. Korea zilch. Europeans have some wagons but they are rare, manual even more so.

I do see manual 3 series and 5 series wagons now and again, but honestly the tiptronic in the new ones is so damn fast they even stopped making the DCT because those ZF autos are faster. I'm waiting to hear back on a couple E46s right now

There’s a few tdi 6 speeds around here, they don’t seem to sell fast.

They really suck to own secondhand, awesome during the warranty period. VW stuff I just stay away from, they're worse than the luxury brands for reliability.

Yeah, that’s why I’ve passed up on them all. The Japanese have ruined my tolerance for mediocrity.
