Ramps are dangerous too-I have had them roll when they looked solid... I always set on stands (or ramps) and leave the jack under there too.

Sounds like your CRV's need lift kits...for safety, of course... :spending:

I've actually been looking for one like that to do a small lift and use as a backup vehicle when I'm working on the taco. Early ones you can lift big. I was trying for an 05-06 because they have the K24 and none of the known problems with A/C "black death".

I'm glad I haven't found one because it helps me stop making bad (fun) vehicle decisions like I did as a younger man lol.

Hmmm, seems that getting a 4-6” lift might be handy. No more worries about failed jack or stands.

We had a close call in the shop today on one of the lifts. Tech had to change jack points due to the work he was doing, and got sidetracked while doing it.... One of the arms wasn't in proper place and a Hilander decided to start swaying while being lifted ...

No one hurt, lessons learned, but still..... Whew....

Oh my God! I'm so sorry to hear this!

Thank you for sharing! As tragic as this is, it's always good to be reminded of the potential hazards we deal with.

Edit: I tried my best to say this without sounding insensitive. I hope it doesn't come off that way.

No worries! I didn't know the guy, just figured I'd share what happened so it's possible his mistake could save others.

Can't give that a like. Damned shame, dying when you didn't have to. Too many people think it can't or won't happen to them.

UV light will damage plastic, making it brittle.

That is true and something I forgot, good call. That being said I think they are mostly made of PA66 with glass reinforcement. I don't use them outdoors for long stretches, mostly just to change oil. Something to keep an eye on but seriously I have a set that is 20+ years old and shows no signs of degradation. Funny now that I look it up, Blitz brand changed to RhinoRamps...which is the second set I bought.

I'll be 40 this year but age doesn't matter when you are extremely skilled at making bad/fun decisions!:rofl::rofl:

I have two sets of the rhino ramps. Someone posted a thread on the 4Runner forum recently where theirs had broken. But, they had them set up on uneven ground and drove too far ahead with them as best I can tell from the post. I store mine in the garage, and am extremely careful about setting them up and driving up on them.

I am a few years ahead of you, but I am still very good at making bad decisions
