What kind of camper do you have?

Im about to find out the hard way in April.

My trailer is garaged when not in use, so the only place where I've had to pull and replace lap seal so far was around the storage hatch. And yeah, razor blade and plastic scraper sucks, it's what I used too.

But it's about to go through it's 6th annual, I feel like I should refresh the roof on principle.

 

It's been some time since you've had this set up. How has your Taco handled the weight?

 

So… we’ve actually been living in the TT since we picked it up on day 1, have towed it over 7,000 miles, driven over many mountain passes (highest 10,856ft) and the taco has done great. Can cruise in 5th at 60mph on flat roads and averaged over 11mpg for the 7k.

The weight is not the issue, wind resistance is though!

 

I had a quick check of our roof and everything looks great but I can imagine removing that sealant would be a pia with plenty of opportunity to puncture the vinyl roof. Something to look forward to I guess!

 

What's some stuff you guys put in your campers? We've got some stuff, just wondering what we're missing.

not big stuff like camp chefs or whatever, lil handy things

 

What are you after? I have modded my camper out more than my truck. Get yourself a pack of bungee deck loops and a couple of closet hanging shoe pockets. Boom, instant wallet/key organizer. Also another one hangs outside for muddy shoes.




Cookware/glassware - I like nonstick pots with removable handle. Good for small kitchens, but not that tin backpackers shit. Also, I keep since basic spices and coffee in the camper full time.




Other stuff:

• First aid kit - every bit as equipped as my house kit.
• Fire extinguisher- look into upgrading from the tiny can that came with the trailer.
• Flashlight
• USB rechargeable fan with clip
• Hospital wipes - absolutely essential for a night without showering.
• Towels- never travel without one, or three. They get washed with the linens.
• Coffee makers - $10 pour over for the days with shore power, percolator for the days we're on battery.
• Counter cleaners, brooms, dustpans, dish soap.
• Dog bowls
• Extra toilet paper, and also a folding shovel.
• Rock hammer, woodsman's hatchet, and a "fireside friend" splitting axe
• A box of "Rutland" squares fire starter.
• USB electric lighter.
• Extra pillows.
• Some minor tools, plus Paracord.
• Duct tape.
• Rain poncho, never used.
• Hammock, frequently used
• Outdoor folding rocking chairs, coffee table, 5x8 outdoor rug
• All kinds of chocks, leveling blocks, 4x4 wood blocks
• Impact driver for setting the level jacks and also announcing our presence.
• 5 gallon bucket - it holds wet stuff or can be used as a step stool or anything else buckets are used for. When not in use it stores/organizes the trailer hoses.

My 60 year old mother in law mocks every single guy in the RV park who can't lower his jacks by hand.

 

I completely understand. If my RV was relegated to stay in RV parks I'd be bitchin about the neighbors too. That's all there is to do there - watch the dumbass who blocks the exit lane for an hour while he fills his water tank. And shake your head disapprovingly while smacking your teeth. Fun times.

Where I go, the coyotes and deer are a little less judgmental of my rude tool.

But do you have your drill set to ‘Masonry’ just to be as ignorant as the impact guys?

I drill too and have the clutch set to 17 for the perfect torque

just picked up my hiker last week.

 

Curious... What size propane tank is that on your camper?? Is that a 10 pound tank??

 

Now that its warming up I picked up the trailer last weekend and brought it home. Going to finish up some wiring that wasn't wrapped up last fall and build a drawer system. If time allows it I will get the water system set up. Tracks so nice cant even tell its behind me on the road.

Any issues getting the smaller tank filled at gas stations, stores etc?? I have read of people having fill issues with tanks other than the 20 pound size.

 

No issues down here in central Florida. Also have some 5lbs that get filled without issue. Usually take them to a local propane place or local tractor supply.

I've had tanks filled in about 7 or 8 different states from Virginia to California. I've got three 10 pound tanks, 2 are aluminum, 1 is fiberglass. No one ever questions the aluminum tanks, some say they've never seen a fiberglass tank but full it anyway, U-Haul will not fill the fiberglass tank anywhere I've been. They always state that it's on recall, even when I point out that the recalled unit was a totally different company than the one that manufactured mine. They insist.... I've stopped going to Uhaul for fills
