Love this look and that's the exact topper I'm looking for down to the color!

I have a similar style and the lack of windoors is disapponting. I hate having to crawl up into the bed to grab stuff.

... anyone wanna trade shells? lol

I have two shells, one on my DCSB Tacoma without windoors and one on my RCLB Tundra with windoors. I like this setup, the windoors are super useful on the Tundra due to the long bed vs crawling inside, particularly since the shells are both cab height. I think windoors on a 5' bed is not super important and the frameless windows look better, I can hop up on the tailgate and reach most of the way inside anyway, or use one of the 2x6's for my platform to drag stuff out.

The 6' Tacoma bed might be long enough to consider windoors, that's probably the middle ground. I think they aren't super critical for the shortbed.

With that said, if I got a shell that had framed windows, I'd get windoors since that does allow more ventilation when parked. It would be killer to have some sort of metal screen for pets which could be removed for gear load/unload or a two piece windoor with the screen maybe folding down on the inside.

The front fold down window is awesome and pretty much a must have in my book. I have a boot on the Tundra shell right now and wish I could convert to a fold down window. I think it actually could be possible with a custom built piece to connect the frame to the shell opening.

    Also, this is interesting.

I went with an RLD cap for my 6' Tacoma bed. The thing is built like a tank. For the 6' bed, RLD has four hatches that allow you to access gear from the sides. They also offer cabinets that provide extra storage. The cap is made out of steel. Pretty nice.

Nice clean look! The look reasons I wish I didn’t have the sliding windoors but they come in so handy. Every time I see just the sliding window I admire how it is!

Everyone on the forums sweared by windoors but I opted out since I'd rarely need to pack stuff from the sides. Also, I think 50/50 windows work better for my use case (truck camping) versus 1/4 on the windoors.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of the look of the 1/4 windows, I would have chosen the 50/50 also. I don’t need in the sides a lot unless I’m hunting as I usually pack the truck pretty full for some of those trips. It’s also came in handy when items have rolled or slid to the front of the bed, those times aren’t common though.

    Also, love the lunar rock!

    no windoors for me..

The ventilation is nice with the 50% slider when camping in warming climates and the seal is better at preventing leaks vs the windoors sealing mechanism

Absolutely. I’m concerned with leaking with my sliding windoors in the future. Living in Washington that’s always a concern

I sat inside my 100XR yesterday and a part of my wishes I had gone with the 180. Have you noticed any decrease in MPG due to the hump?

Looks great. I'm thinking of doing a windoor on driver side and slider on the other for the ventilation. The windoors sliders seem small, although I haven't seen them in person.

Nothing of any significance.. in fact a few tanks I've felt it was better than without a topper... Have had my topper off the last few months to prevent the onslaught of heavy salted roads. Just put it back on last week. I don't haul any weight in the box when using it for daily use.

However high quartering winds might have more impact with a topper vs without such as going across open farmland at 75 mph into a quartering wind. More side vehicle surface for the wind to hit.

The Leer product has more length for the transition of the topper from cab height to full topper height vs the more abrupt change on the ARE which may aid aerodynamics.

I'll know more as the temps warm here in the upper mid-west and we get off the winter blend fuel.

Driving 65 mph on cruise control today, with winter blend fuel at 35f for 110 miles with slightly rolling hills and low winds in MN my mpg was 20.9. I have 265/75-16 Michelin tires and my actual mileage is 2.9% more than the odometer states vs what is indicated when using my Garmin XT GPS tracking total miles.

Having a windoor and 50% slider might not be a bad idea.. I'd definitely give that some consideration.. best of both worlds..

Hey canopy friends- I have a Leer 100XR that I bought new in 2016. I just transferred it over to my new 2023 and am fixing/adding a few things and have a few questions:

Has anyone found a higher quality replacement stick on 3rd break light? The led chrome one is pretty ugly and cheap looking to me.

Have any of you added the keyless entry to the back window? If so, how was the install? Best place to purchase?

I was planning on installing that when I install the oem keyless tailgate lock. With both of those, I’m also wondering if I’ll need to set up a fuse block behind the tail light?

    Current setup:

@Puppypunter and @kmorgan3 are working on some ideas with the third brake light. Nothing available right now but we will post here if something reaches production. I have two Leer’s and Johnny has one, Kyle has VLED connections and we all like to tinker.

OEM tailgate lock harness plus a T from FBC plus the pop n lock kit from wherever you get the best price and you are rolling in style. I love one click lock for my entire truck, it’s so convenient.

Oh and my leer came with a TAG fuse box inside which has fuses for lock and unlock. You route those wires through a 6 pin molex connector. Brake T for stop and ground, lock T for lock and unlock then either a battery tap or tow connector T for constant / ignition power for dome light and accessory.

Thank you! You’re a world of knowledge. I have a few harnesses I’ll have to order from you once I start piecing this all together. I’ll also have to check and see if I have that TAG fuse box.

If you guys end up making a 3rd break light, please count me in.
