I'm lookin for some advice on San Diego based solar installers. I'm sure someone on here has had to have gotten solar, so what'cha got?

    What I know-
We have a great house for solar. I have a friend up north who was able to complete a design package with shade report and everything. So we know we'll be good on that front. Split array across two roof pitches.
We're going to have to upgrade our panel. Already have an electrician.
We need to hit our milestones before the NEM3.0 date.

    Current hurdles-
We don't close until mid month, and without "keys in hand" the first few places on Tesla's installer list won't give me a quote.

We used Semper Solaris. Did a great job, good price. Happy with their work. They give discount to Active Duty, Vets, 1st Responders.

Semper Solaris was the first installer I called- they (understandably) couldn't give me an estimate until we have keys in hand.

I, unfortunately, don't fall into the discount categories.

Hope all you guys are doing well!!

Anybody have a good place for tires that they recommend in North County (Im in Vista)?
I'm looking for (5) 33x12.5r15 for the Jeep.
Tires are so dang expensive these days along with everything else, but I gotta have em' so...

    Thanks!!

Hey Jason - how is your dog doing?

I just go to Discount Tire. I've always gotten competitive pricing at a minimum, maybe not cheapest if I really hunted around but competitive. They paid me $75 each trade-in for the stock Tacoma tires with 10k miles on them and I went up to 32" Wildpeaks. Had them out in the snow last week they did great.

Sign up for their email newsletter, there are some brands that seem to always be having weekend specials on and you can save like $250 if you time it right and there is a combo instant rebate plus a mail in manufacturers rebate.

    I second this.

I also price shop on walmart online and use that to have someone else pricematch it. Worked for price matching my truck tires at Discount Tire, and worked for price matching my motorcycle tires to buy them through RevZilla...just a tip.

Think I paid $140/tire (Milestar Patagonia M/T, 285/75/16, $170-180 per tire at the time) using that method with Discount Tire. granted that was a few years ago so it'll likely be a bit pricier now but worth a shot. Pricematching has saved me a ton of money on things over the years.

Also need news on the pup!

I'd put in a third nod to Discount. I got a great price on some tires at another shop, but the service was horrible, and they were unable to balance the tires. Ended up taking them to Discount and paid out of pocket for the road force balance, and they got it right on the first try.

End up with 265/75/16 Goodyear Workhorse ATs. Really like them so far.

Hey bud, thanks for asking. She is doing OK, it is apparent that both knees are still severely compromised but she is still getting around, seemingly with very slight improvement but that's an assumption. I don't want to completely eliminate her mobility because in my mind I think movement is crucial to being able to repair damage (which is against what most doctors recommend) but through personal experience from being hurt myself. I am not so sure that's a good thing but I've had a lot of injuries and surgeries due to my brain's ability to agree to something that I'm unable to do physically and or can't handle the aftermath in a "walk away" type of method. It typically ends with me "stimulating" my diaphragm hard enough to think my body will not inhale before I see Jesus but apparently I was overreacting.

And I guess I'll be signing up for a newsletter ASAP! That's a great point, might as well sign up for other chain shops as well but it's likely its a manufacturer rebate that the shop is using to get you in but makes plenty of sense to me.

Thanks, and if you want that exhaust cut and or redirected just let me know. Hope you have been having fun with the truck, that pullout long drawer system was looking pretty good and I know that was your 1st draft, but it can only get better, and it's always good to take a while so you can think of improvements before you go and do the final build, but as much as I know you I'm sure you did it properly or better if that's possible.

I’ve had some luck finding tire deals on OfferUp from used-tire shops. Granted, I usually get one or two at a time. Just picked up an LT265 70 17, about 50% tread, for $30.

Thanks Andy, I appreciate the input. I usually go there since I have one super close, but always check to see if there are other options (AKA the little guy since I can identify with that) and they price match so that is a nice policy.
I have used a shop in Esco on Auto park way called North county wheel and tire or something like that and they have been pretty good as well for anyone else looking for wheels/tires in NC.
I'll check them out tomorrow and see what they have vs discount and report back with how it went...

I agree but the ads I have found for 33/12.5r15 are mostly tires with 20% tread for $300+, lol. I'm exaggerating slightly but that's what I tend to end up with, meth is a hell of a drug...until it's not.

Also tying to find some chickens that are 5 months old or thereabouts. I eat a lot of eggs but my 2 dogs 2 each per day so it adds up faster then i thought until I did the math...sheesh!!
I had built a large dog house (or now soon to be a chicken coupe!) so I figured I would convert it into a coupe coupled with a fully enclosed outside area that would be coyote proof.
With the cost of eggs not to mention the availability it's become a necessity.
So that said any info on chickens and the associated complexities would be greatly appreciated..

Sheep Canyon! Man, I used to go out there with my buddies 50 years ago. I thought it was closed before the water crossings? Is it still drivable with 2wd? I used to have a 1965 Ford F-150 Step side with 17.5 inch rims that I would lead the way for 4wd Broncos back in the day. Many, many brain cells are still wandering around up by Sheep Canyon. We had a female camper from our group get lost up there one night...that's a story for another time!
Please give an update after you head up there and if it's open.

Haha, I feel ya, riding the lightning is a memorable experience for any mammal that encounters it.
But yeah Im trying to be more self-sufficient so the more things I don't need to shop for the better! And I'm here 98% of the time anyway so might as well.
Hope you guys had a rad time out in Super, so Fking bummed I couldn't make it, things have been harder than normal since I broke my scapula and modified my previous surgery but it is what it is..
But I have seen a lot of Chickens for sale but I want a 6 month old set of birds since they are only viable for egg laying for about 3 years or so before they take on their next purpose but Ill leave that out for the softer amongst us....

Superstition was fun as always. Always next year. Bit quiet this year compared to before, but I'll take it. Figured people where busy this year.
Six months goes by fast. I haven't bought eggs since 2021. I'm sure the chicken food probably cost more than the store eggs. I can taste the difference.

Hey Jason, finding 6 month old chicks is going to be pretty tricky right now. My wife just ordered some replacement hens for our "herd" and unfortunately they don't get delivered until June. She went through Meyer Hatchery if you decide to go that route. I think that the farm/ranch supply stores Tractor Supply/Big R usually get there chicks in around April. Good luck!

You can try Energy Sage if you want to get a bunch of quotes sent to you. I used Elevation, but if you're in a time crunch for NEM 3.0 I don't recommend them. My buddy used Better Earth and they will guarantee dates and got it done in just a couple weeks, but the quote I got from them was with string inverters which I didn't want to use although to be fair I never asked them if they had the equipment I was looking for since Elevations quote was cheaper anyway.
