It's like they learned this from used car stealers or something.....

That and IG profiles like Vilmont kind of enables stupid pricing because some one is willing to pay.

I lucked out and get an upper stage icon kit for $170 a couple months ago, 1k to have someone rebuild them and now I'm using them.

but yea, some asking prices are ridiculous

My Pros do pretty well with 650lb springs. I'll probably stiffen the compression a hair when I rebuild them, otherwise they did the best that a mid-travel front end can do on the desert section of the Koh course, even with my heavy pig.

I will echo others in that it all depends on your needs. I am building a overland rig and eventually will upgrade to high end. For now to handle the load I will be carrying I have bought the 6112/5160 combo with 2" lift for the front and a stage 3 Deaver leaf pack. I estimate my load between 800-1000. I was going to go with the Alcan pack but wanted to try a more budget friendly option first. Odds are in a couple years I will switch to OME BP-51's with a custom Alcan pack when I have solidified my rig setup and weight.

    Sounds like a solid plan.
Although deaver stage 3 is like, $100 less than an Alcan pack - not putting deaver down but just putting that out there to hopefully save you now/future funds.

Edit: I paid like 1200 for the Alcan springs (not including shipping) about this time last year

I talked quite a bit with Lew at Alcan and I felt if I am going to get a custom pack, I want to do it when I know exactly what I want for suspension. The current choice was a have to get not a want to get. I was hoping the stock suspension would handle the load for at least a year. After installing the canopy, canopy accessories, bed plate and fridge slide plus the full RCI armor I felt the springs are already inadequate esp since I will be taking it offroad.

anyone switched from 6112/5160 to a fox set up? I currently have the Bilstein's at 10/8 clip and its a little too harsh on the small bumps even with the sway bar removed... it kicks ass off-road on bigger stuff and handles great on streets minus the small chatter/ bumps that feel bigger then actual big bumps. i've got icon rxt leafs at opt 1 for reference. Im thinking a progressive shock set up would help... Through this might be helpful in the Best Shock Upgrade thread .

I couldn't decide so I just ordered 5100’s at a really good price. Going to run them at factory height.

Not lifting my vehicle yet so this will suffice until I just save up and do everything correctly including leaf springs, bushing, all at once.

What do you all recommend I put on this stock truck I bought last year. I’m on pavement 95% of time.I want 2-3” lift with at the moment* same wheels* with slightly bigger tires.:spending:

I have the same question only that I have a 2.7L 4cyl '04 pre runner sr5 xtracab. my everyday involves mud, rocks, dry dusty dirt, huge gravel & dirt potholes, and a bunch of pavement, and occasionally sand

Bilstein 8112/8100 are the best for stock geometry and no rear relocation. They're not cheap, but they are the best, IMO.

Ive been very happy with mine. Went bypass in the rear. I feel more traction limited on rough roads than suspension most of the time.

I would avoid any Bilstein products as they don't stand behind there products. Broke a spring after 55K kms of highway driving, their limited lifetime warranty is not worth the paper it's printed on.
