Two dead boys got up to fight.

I love this saying.

For some reason it came to mind last night.

One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,

One was blind and the other couldn't see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"

A paralyzed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,

A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

 

lol, my dad used to tell me this little story when i was a kid

 

It's been a long time since I heard that.

 

Haven't heard this in years. The version I remember ends like this...

"A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came to kill the two dead boys."

 

Wooooowwww. Good times. I remember practicing this poem way back in elementary school to recite in class.

This day and age? Im sure somebody will get offended by it and sue the school or something.

 

The following was inscribed on a headstone in a Revolutionary War era cemetery in Boston on John Decoster's tombstone dated late 1700s:

"Stop here my friend and cast an eye

As you are now so once was I

As I am now so you must be

Prepare for death and follow me."


Pretty eerie on a cemetery tour at 11 at night...
