Mine fit fine. No rubbing or rattling. My shields are from the early batches they sent out.

Good to know. Do yours actually come into contact with the cat heat shield?

Ordered mine about two weeks ago. Hope to see them in a couple of weeks and hope there aren't any fitment issues.

I finished painting mine this week, 2 coats of 1000F degree primer and 2 coats of 1000F degree flat black on both sides.
Will be putting them on this weekend. Looking for spacers for the driver side now. May stack SS washers. Do not want to use nylon spacers right next to the car converter.

Why are you painting them? Just to blend in or something else?

i assume it’s coming from where the shield is touching the cat. I did not use any washers. Those go on the other end opposite of where it secures to the brace right?

Look nicer, blend in with the transmission pan and black running boards, hide the cats visually. And, depending on the grade of SS, stainless steel will eventually rust (SS tube steps on my Hyundai Veracruz had surface rust after several years). $20 worth paint and a few evenings. Why not?
Was is a must? No. But I had time and money to paint.

This is what Caliraised CS said about the driver side heat shield contact:

“Thank you for reaching out. What you are experiencing is completely normal. The catalytic converter on the driver's side has an extra heat shield that goes over the catalytic converter that is not found on the passenger side. The CAT Shield is stainless steel and can take the heat and will still perform perfectly with zero harm to the shield or the extra heat shield Toyota has in place. The vehicle we tested this on had a slight touch, and we did a bunch of bounce testing and there was no rattle or concern at all. We designed these to be very tight and close so that off-road skids would fit below them. Tighter means better theft protection and keeps everything up and out of the way when off-roading over obstacles.”

I have the primer and paint left over from when I did my motorcycle exhaust. I've been contemplating painting the shields when they come in. Not sure if it's necessary since I Krown the truck once a year with a respray at the mid point. Just wondering if you cured yours with heat or not?

I put my SS washer spacers in the same spot as my security bolts. It’s the end of the bracer bar that holds the shield down. I put the spacer “on top” of the shield so it sits between the Tacoma frame and the shield. Assembly layering would be frame, SS spacer washer, cat shield, bracer , security bolt washer, security bolt.

I asked caliraised about painting mine and while I don’t have the email anymore to quote, they said it was unnecessary to prevent rust as their SS should resist rust for as long as you own the vehicle

Wife said NO!!!!! to curing in the kitchen oven, so I plan to cure them after they are mounted. Cans have directions for curing parts on the vehicle: run idle, rest, more idle, rest, then drive around.

Good to know. Since both the OEM cat heat shield and the Caliraised theft protection shield are connected to separate parts of the truck I guess I'm still concerned about the parts moving in different directions, even if it's only minor engine torque and/or frame shifting, causing issues like scuffing, rattles, etc. If they're satisfied that it's "normal" and won't cause any problems that's good. I just hope that's the case for the rest of us (although it sounds like it's an issue for @Goodnasty and some others).

Thanks for following up and posting the info.

    Hi CaliRaisedLed,
Do you have a rough estimate of when the 4 cylinder version may be available? Thanks.

So finally got my shields on. Installation was pretty easy. Anyone else’s shield bent when tightening the side to the frame?

I think I stripped one of the security bolts. Any tips? Might have to pick up some screw extractors
