What size socket do I need for the lug nuts of my 2018 Sport?

Prefer to have a socket on a breaker bar handy if needed. Learned this the hard way a long, long time ago.

True-ish. But I bet i can get closer than tire shops with an air gun and no torque sticks.

Yes, i have a torque wrench. And I do actually use it on wheels and suspension. But hundreds of street to race to street tire swaps over a decade built muscle memory.

 

21mm too small on my 2018. 22mm too big. I bought 2 lug nuts to replace 2 that were bulging from Toyota. Those are 13/16". I don't get it. Thought they be the exact same size.

 

Confused, you're saying 21mm is too small and 22mm is too big, but 13/16" fits? 13/16" = 20.637mm

I too have been using a lug wrench and The Force for about five decades now. So far no wheel separation has occurred.

 

21mm is the correct size, your lugnuts are just screwed up since toyota did something stupid and started using the stainless caps instead of just solid lug nuts.

Find some aftermarket solid lug nuts or earlier OEM solid lug nuts (not even sure if they're still available from Toyota).

 

I use a 13/16 on my 19. Fits perfect on the Taco and my Lexus, all the nuts are the stock ones from the factory.

The 13/16 fit only on the two lug nuts that I just purchased from a Toyota dealership.

 

I didn't know this, thanks. My fecking focus had those capped lug nuts and the first time I used an impact they all separated. Absolute junk, had to replace all of them.
I haven't rotated tires on the Taco yet, but now I know to just use a breaker bar.

Generally speaking, Toyotas made in Japan have single-piece lug nuts while Toyotas made in North America have caps. I don't know why the difference in design.
