Hell of a educational morning in the Alignment dept.

We're into alignments in our class and we can bring our stuff in and mess around with it.

Basically after a good amount of me telling my instructor that no, there is a way, somehow, to get everything back in spec without having to make a sacrifice, we finally figured it out.

    The Caster adjustment is BACKWARDS.

Say I wanted to take my positive caster spec from 3.1 up to 3.5.

On the machine I would have to make my adjustment look like I was decreasing the positive caster. I would have to adjust from 3.1 to 2.8.

I gotta re-check everything, I think by the time we finally got around to setting the toe the turnplates were so jammed up it didn't give a proper reading.

I not sure, did you lift your truck? Having some troubles getting it lined back as well? I honestly can't help much here since I've not ventured into that realm.

What I can say though is that if the alignment tech is having problems with the caster adjustment on your truck...

Then yes, you can tell the tech that wherever he wants to adjust the caster to, he needs to adjust in the opposite direction

To increase the caster on the vehicle, decrease the caster on the screen.
To reduce the caster on the vehicle, increase the caster on the screen.

Tell the tech to make sure he re-does the caster sweep every time after any camber or caster adjusment is made.

Is your caster way to positive now?

You're a base model like me. Standard spec for Caster is +3.9

not sure if it's positive or not, but the are both set at 2.6 and the camber is 1 instead of .4. the toe is within spec.

    Ok. Cool.

First of all, get your camber back into spec. Camber effects caster. Supposed to be 0.2, but for you, get your CROSS camber back to 0.5 or less.

The camber adjust is not to bad and thats straight forward, unless the cams are frozen. Just get that back into spec.

Make sure the tech does another caster sweep after adjusting camber.

To try and get the 2.6 back into spec...

When the tech is on the adjustment screen or bar graphs, he's going to actually start reducing the caster. 2.6/2.5/2.4, etc..

    Do that to both sides.

Then re-do the caster sweep again and see where it's at. It should increase the caster.

    Then set toe.

Well guys, Selling my truck (already said that just restating).

However if it doesnt sell by the end of March Im keeping her :)

The mpg are killing me but we're getting my fiancee a new car so that should help out, (use it more lol).

But I have decided if I keep her, she is getting lifted and I'm getting my front bumper that I want (the awesome aluminum one thats like 1400$ OUCH).

Also getting a soft tonneu(sp) cover.

Anyway didn't know if anyone would be down or not to do a lift in april (if I still have it)?

If not I can do it myself just didn't know if anyone wanted to learn/help/chill and share stories.?

O also just so I know, the lift im thinking is this, sound right?

Billy 5100's all the way around (only lifting it a inch the .85), getting the 2" or is it 2.5"? AAL, and then the driver side spacers, where do I find the spacers?

5100's all 4 corners, front at .85 with Eibach Coils, Rear TSB w/AAL, TRD Catback Exhaust, AFE Pro Dry S, Duratracs, redline hood struts, maglight mod, weathertechs
Are you talking top plate spacers to add lift or fix lean? If just lean you probably won't need them unless your changing coils. I don't notice any lean on my truck. If you do get them, Toytec has them. I believe wheelers does as well.

If your only going .85 on the billies and have the TSB springs you'll still have rake without an AAL. I'm 1.75 up front and TSB rear and the rear is still slightly higher than the front. I have an access cab so not sure if that matters.

Last suggestion, if your getting an off road bumper you may want new springs or set the 5100's higher as it will compress more with the weight of the bumper, even if it is aluminum.
