I have an HPS intake and a K&N filter. The HPS pipe looks better and cleans up the engine bay, but holy hell. Combined with my cowl intake it’s louder than my exhaust. Debating on swapping back because of the racket and zero performance.

I bought my Tacoma used and it has an aftermarket CAI.

One trip up an on ramp and I bought a stocker. Now if I could only find those pesky rubber isolators they mount on....

Man, those oiled filters are garbage. Zero gains. Once I found a fine layer of dust in my HPS intake tube, I threw that filter in the garbage. I was a believer for years.

3.5L uses same air filter as 5.7L tundra, it gets plenty of air.

Oh I know. I just haven’t gotten around to changing it yet. Truck is currently undergoing surgery with a big project. I’ll probably swap it out at some point in the near future.

Don't let haters tell you what to do, I agree go dry filter rather than oiled but if you like the sound get it, I got a used S&B one for cheap on marketplace, paired with my MBRP exhaust on a second gen it sounds great, I am adding a snorkel to the setup soon as well to cut down on dust offroad.

It's your truck do what you want. If I was going to pick one I would go with AFE.

Front facing snorkel will collect even more dust.:)

If I was to do a snorkel, it would only be this kind.

Went back to sock sir. It did quiet the noise down a bit, but better than dust in my engine haha.

The stock intake sucks air from the wheel well when driving in dust your tires throw way more dirt and dust up than the residual dust a snorkel will suck in.

Not a chance sir. Drive behind a vehicle off-road in dusty conditions and see where most of the dust goes.

I’m Usually in a convoy, so a front facing snorkel is a no go for me.

Could always turn it around when in a convoy or just add the pre filter like your original post, its same snorkel just a different head. I do a lot of long logging road trips to get to remote camp spots, sometimes I don't see another truck for hours so I think it will be fine for me.

Op get it you like it but intake system will only give you at most 5 hp at the top rpm. If you want more low end from your intake system you will need a bigger throttle body and intake manifold and sometime port head also a proper tune. Only then can you make power all through the rpm range. You will spend 96% of your truck driving at 2000 rpm and you wont see a difference in power. If you want performance then save your money for a regear or premium gas tune.

Premium gas tune gave me quite a bit more torque at lower RPMs, it’s great.
