    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
One thing, that I don't think many people know, or consider. TreadLightly has programs that will give grant funding to clean up projects. I'm not completely sure of the details, but it is something I'm planning on looking in to for clean up projects local to me. But, it's worth looking in to for a clean up project in Johnson Valley as well.

I know TreadLightly is involved with KOH already, but it would be worth looking in to, to see if there is additional resources available. And also, it's a good idea for anyone that does what we do, to be a member of TreadLightly if possible.

For sure I get it. There are cleanups and other things that are always popping up. Follow accounts like @sonsofsmokey @cleandezert @Gambler500

I try to post up here about events we are involved in the big one we help with is the Barstow clean up usually in Oct/NOV

Next year I'm down to spend Sunday morning helping out with the clean up and then hit a couple trails afterwards.

One of the next few years I'll be driving over from TX and will make sure to plan the back half + 1-2 days for cleanup. I live down the street where they do the 2 weekend concert in the park (ACL Music fest) and they a) have a ton of signs and trash locations but maybe more importantly b) they giveaway garbage bags and have various trash pickup contests (most cans, most weight, most in an hour, ...) - these are stationed throughout where it's very easy to grab a bag and pickup some trash - stickers, badges, hats, whatever. The kids get into it. While I've never been to KOH and doubt my imagination does the nighttime madness justice maybe people could kill an hour each day and make a dent in the problem. Shoot just seeing people walking around grabbing trash may prevent a few dumbasses from dropping theirs on the ground. The land in TX is already all private - people won't realize the jewel they have with all that public land until it's gone.

A trash raffle would be cool if some of the event sponsors would participate and give away some swag bags or universal parts like lights or recovery gear.

The night time shenanigans get a bad wrap, most of the people are respectful and clean up after themselves. 10% of the crowd is leaving 90% of the trash.

Plenty of good people/ groups that organize events, desert cleanup days, etc. just have to keep an eye out for those events.

Most of the time it really is a thankless job but the events put a little more encouragement, with food, prizes and sometimes just some good people/meetups

This is 99% the issue. I’d love to have more trash receptacles out there and dumpsters for bulk. But that 10% is the bigger problem. Not like you can ban them at the gate either.

And 10% might be high I would hope. Probably like 2-5% are the problem for the nighttime shenanigans
