I don't know about known to be expensive but I have had that experience with them. I have called them about a part just because they are right now the street from me but every time I have done that I can find it from another dealer online for much cheaper. I do go there for service once in a while and they have been great about that. Not sure if its more expensive or not for service but parts are.

For any of you who have driven the trails at Spider Lake, how would you rate the difficulty and what would you recommend for minimum prep/equipment? My 2.5 gen is mostly stock, 2" lift/level and 265/70R17 A/T's but no winch, sliders or skid plates. Would I be getting myself in trouble or should I be able to handle at least most of it?

    *EDIT*
I should clarify this would be in summer conditions, planning for early June.

You'll be fine. I took my Subaru Crosstrek threw most of the trails like 6 or so years ago. Since then they have groomed a lot of the trails for ATVs and SxS so they are pretty tight now and have some steep breakovers. Last time I was there was maybe 2 years ago (on 265s) and it was busy with ATVs but I had no problems with the trails at all, you might need a spotter on some of the breakovers. Sliders might help but you shouldn't need them its mostly sand.

After finding a bunch of local fb posts of people driving it in their stock Subarus I'm inclined to agree. Since I've never been there and haven’t had my truck out on any trails yet I guess I just wanted to know what to expect. Planning a camping trip around there with my 8yo son so I wouldn't have any real help if things went south.

Yeah. It’s pretty pedestrian for trails. As stated there are some break overs that put you down a hill. Just use the trees to mark where the trail goes. Most are perfectly straight if memory serves. Tight corners on the old rock garden return road switchbacks on the southwest corner, but you can make it. There’s some campsites in the area first come first serve, or bookable state parks. You’ll be in Cass county so trails are open unless otherwise marked. So heading north of 2, gets miles of more trail. There is very little if anything that a stock taco can’t deal with.

Not in the Twin Cities but close enough (Cambridge). Moved here from Thief River Falls. People seem to think it's cold here...

it's all been light fluffy stuff out here in Carver Co. Haven't had to leave the house yet but I bet the wind blowing everything around isn't helping the roads. Careful out there

I went out to walmart a little while ago, roads were not too bad, though every person in 2wd was weaving around traffic to get to the next stop light so they could spin their wheels trying to start moving again.

Bosses ended up closing the shop down for the day. Gonna have to head out and play around a little. There is A LOT of snow in the yard here! Be safe out there, if you guys get out.

Its really deep in areas. I had part of my driveway over 2 feet deep with the wind but under my truck there was about 1 inch and my girlfriend escape is sealed all around with snow. Roads aren't bad in the truck at all but they are slick. On my way into work just now I had a guy in a 4runner almost blow threw the red light on his right turn and if I wasn't going as slow as I was it would have been a bad day for both of us.
