I am in the process of trying to get my deposit back after reading all the problems on this forum. I think I will stay with my $h!tbox <$25k compact cars that I have owned since 2004. I wish I could find a Civic Si so it could be a little more fun $h!tbox, but those are even harder to find than a Tacoma.

Like @xp0nex, I've never owned a truck prior to mine, and with the exception of when the kids were little and we had a bunch of minivans, I've always driven smaller sportier cars, always with a manual gearbox. I love my Tacoma and plan to keep it until I'm too decrepit to be able to drive safely, however, I will most likely add something sportier to the stable of cars, something along the lines of an S2000 or a Cayman/Boxter.

Lol! Would at least drive it for a year. All of the problems you read are greatly overblown. We just now live in the land of everyone gets a trophy safe space whiny bitches who want perfection in an imperfect world.

I have a 2020 OR that I bought used in August, 2022 so I've only owned it a few months. So far I have no complaints at all. I've made a few minor mods to it, but nothing major. Skid plate, Sprint Booster, grill, LED lights, bed mat, shift knob, radio knobs. Took it to the dealer today for 20K service. Thought it would be free but it's over the 3 years but was only $100 so not really more than taking it to an oil change shop.

There is a lot of piss-whining on this forum...worst forum I've seen in that respect. Definitely have to take everything with a huge grain of salt. People would do well to get rid of their Tacoma, if they don't like it. Life is short, and nobody else truly cares if they sell it and buy something else. Also, most of us aren't listening to their whining either. LOL

On Topic: My Tacoma does everything I need it to. Are there some things I'd change, if I could? Yes. But, I've owned a couple dozen different vehicles, and they've all had a few things I'd change. Logoff the forum, get outside and drive your truck, whatever brand it is. Try to enjoy your day today!

You got that right. Every little thing. Think that is the world today (not just 3Gs), just a constant bitch fest. People go out of their way to be miserable about something!

Have been driving Toyota trucks as my personal vehicle for over 30 years, are they perfect? No. Love the little things though. They have come a long way from the early days. Drive an 80s truck back to back with the new stuff, and you’ll go “wow!”

Yeah those who are miserable with their 3G, sell it…so they can go piss and moan about something else.

I've been wanting to get a NB Miata and do a build with it but I'll have to wait till I am done modding the truck.

Comparing the current 3rd gen to the outgoing colorado, Ranger, and Frontier (not fair to compare 3rd gen taco to the new gen versions of those trucks).....

Tacoma wins basically everywhere in my book except 2x places
    • AT Transmission quirks
    • Interior fit & finish
Wouldn't change my mind to purchase my 3rd gen for a second compared to those outgoing trucks...... Now if I were shopping one of those NEW gen trucks against the upcoming 4th gen Tacoma.... time will tell, haha

I've only been here a couple of weeks, and sometimes I get the same feeling.

Lots of good info, and helpful people. But also a lot of jackasses critical of what someone else is doing to mod their truck.

Eh, I said it’s “ok.” I’m not unhappy. Just not super happy either. It’s not bad enough to waste $10-30k on fixing. That money will make me much happier invested.

Man the dealer is playing hardball. I may have to lose my deposit. I never realized how many problems these trucks had. I know used ones with 36k+ miles and a couple years old cost $1000 less than brand new MSRP. With the resale values they retain I am very surprised to see that such a large percentage of owners dislike them and spend $1000s more to make them acceptable. I think if I disliked it I wouldn’t spend more money and just trade it in or resell. I hope my threat of a getting a lawyer involved will get my deposit back.

Tacoma ownership sounds like boat ownership, 2 happy days—the day you buy and the day you get rid of it.

Do you have it in writing? Did you use a credit card? I had a deposit on a truck at dealer A and I changed my mind and bought a truck at dealer B. Dealer A refunded my deposit no questions asked.

I just bought my new 2023 Sport and love it. I like the feel of the small cab and the big hood scoop and sitting up higher. Wont be going back to Subaru....lol. Also like my first ever V6 engine its always been 4 cylinders through out my life..
