Did Locked say that entire thing. They use Viper springs and they are inconstant? Or did you add that last part?

I think some silver Eibach springs would look nice on those black shocks. Let us know.

As for plasma cut brackets, I'm more surprised they were not cleaned up and powder coated. They are just raw steel?

I'll keep you guys in the loop! I may actually paint my upper control arms blue and go with king coils. Yeah for the cutting that was my main thing, I figured it would be cleaned up and coated as well.

The viper springs were also during their production issues with the other company @ForestRunnerFrank99 was talking about. But to answer your question yes, locked specifically told me to replace them due to their spring rate being inconsistent

I agree, my main thing is cleaning it up a bit. I've used plasma cutters before and it is a pain. Just wanted it cleaned up a bit. No major complaints tho

I called locked about my wheel hitting the resi while turned and toward the top of the up stroke. He sent me a new design resi mount for free and overnighted it to me. That’s pretty rad but it won’t work for me because I run a steel front bumper and the frame strengthening bracket is in the way. Soon as it’s not 30° outside I will pull the coilovers and swap out the hose for a longer one and weld resi mounts on the bumper out of the way.
Also may swap the spring. Came with a 650, but could use a little softer spring.

the bracket is much nicer that the flat plate. Mounts to the sway bar block and angels the resi back a bit moving it out of the way from hitting the tire. But I still can’t use it because the damn frame support bracket on my bumper

But hey no worries, I really like the king springs on the coil. Agreed on the resi mount they're not the best overall. Next week I will test their ability off road

As promised, my "unboxing" and comparison of the Locked 2.5 14" Smooth Bodies.

Came packaged very nice. No damage as far as I could tell, very happy with this.
    20230216_224849.jpg

Laid them out next to one of my 1+ year old 2.5 14" Coilovers. 1st thing I noticed was that the smooth bodies did not have "Made in USA" stamped on them like the old coilovers do.
    20230216_225651.jpg

    20230216_225526.jpg

Also noticed the hose sizes vary a little, right is old, left is new. The old is a little bigger and it doesn't say where it's are made. The right says "Made in Italy". So hopefully that means the hoses won't have issues.
    20230216_225452.jpg

The new resis also have the sweet "cooling fins" that the old ones don't. Stamped on the bottom it reads Locked+EM10. Couldn't find any information about what EM10 stands for.
    20230216_225416.jpg

Overall they seem pretty good. Neither the bumps or shocks are leaking and they seem like they should work fine :)

The coilovers....were.. amazing. Prior to me starting this i apologies for the delay, works been hectic. Anyways, lets start off with their customer service. Out of every business ive dealt with, ive never had this good of customer service. They answered every question in the book about these coilovers. They really show that they appreciate their clientele. For build quality, I'm extremely impressed. I've ran icon, fox and bilsteins on my tacoma and quite honestly none of those coils felt like Locked did. Their damping was superb, the valving is extremely good for OEM weight. Overall I have not been this pleased with a set of coilover. Terrain consisted of mud, dirt, rock crawling and snow. The resi adjuster 22 point is extremely reactivate and supports offroading in any condition desired. 4130 chrome polish steel si extremely durable and reliable. I've put these coilveers through significantly more than any other suspension and nothing has felt more trident and true than locked. Riley locked is going to change the coilover game and I can guarantee it.

Glad they are so awesome! I can't wait to get the Taco finished so I can test mine out too.

Thats good to hear, I have had mine for a few months now. I do have this odd clunk when going over bumps that I cant diagnose. Did you have any initial issues with rebound or topping out? Also may be my adjustment, have not dialed that in yet.

No clunking on my end. No issues with rebound or topping out either. They ride really well overall. I'd say check your current torque on all bolts first? I've seen people have issues in the past due to rear top mounting bout. If that makes sense? The top 3 bolts for the coilover mounting. The rear bolt a lot of people cannot get the correct torque because it's a bit cramped.

Yeah I just had a shop in Denver add preload so it’s all tourqed and good but still has that issue. I read another guy was having this issue with bilstiens and basically just limited down travel made the sound. Wondering if mine are calving incorrectly or something like that.

Mine top out daily driving. I have never adjusted preload. They are set from locked. I did order with 650 spring as the website said if I had steel bumper/winch. As it sits now I only have about 2” of down travel. It’s not enjoyable to drive. Im waiting on a 3 link kit from Martec and then im going JD Fab long travel in the front. I’ll be able to keep the coilovers for the LT set up and hoping the springs will perform better with that extra leverage on them

Sounds like topping out issues, jack up the front and see how much droop you have, if its 2 inches or less, it has too much preload and will cause that jolt/clunk feeling.
