I've spent more time building a new Colorado on cheby's website than I care to admit here, but to go from the mid power motor to the top dog is like sub $300.

I'd like to see the dyno charts on the mid vs. top though. 390 lb-ft @2k vs 430 @3k makes for some interesting choices.

Other than the AFM and lacking a headlight switch(lol), I am really liking what chevy is doing.

The headlight switch bugged me until I thought about mine is left in auto. Our automated overlords are taking over.

See, too me this picture indicates it WILL be integrated into the dash as the 3rd gen tacoma is, not protruding above it like the new Tundra. That tablet line falls below the hood of the gauge cluster, and stays generally in line with the right side of the dash, exactly as the current gen Tacoma does.

Where we could all be totally wrong, is if this is a base trim. Tundra base trim center screen still looks "integrated" to the dash.... its only when you get the Tech package does it start to protrude above the dash. Time well tell I suppose.

That picture looks to me like it is protruding from the dash.

I see where you're coming from. Its not totally the same as the 3rd gen, to be clear. My take is its not close to as dramatic as the Tundra. The cowl of the gauge cluster is the highest point of the dash, drops down slightly to follow a flat line across the center screen, much like the 3rd gen taco :
Whereas the Tundra truly "protrudes" above the natural dashline... The Taco spy shot to me is more of an "evolution" of the 3rd gen.... the tundra is totally different, and you've gotta have big screen taste to dig it.

I like both of these. I'm not big on interiors, as I like my 17 base taco as well, but weirdly the layout of the central vents matters to me for some reason. Also the vertical screen bugs me, but so does the glued on horizontal look. In this heads up, I am leaning towards the Denali 55/45 at this time.

Unfortunately, I'm not in the market for a Denali or Raptor, so the interior I would see is different than the loaded version anyways.

My taco has no such feature. My wife's RAV did though and it really was no big deal. I guess I just like the control and don't like it being taken away from me. I like to drive with my parking lights on most of the time. I currently drive a silver taco and it seems to blend into the road a bit much for people to see.

I can’t believe the Colorado/Canyon actually decreased rear legroom for the new generation, that seems like such a miss. I’d prefer the Tacoma, but my next truck will be whichever latest generation has more interior room between the Ranger, Tacoma, or GMC twins.

At the end of the day, it's still a midsized truck. There are many other factors that go into towing capacity besides the engine.

With that said, I will still take the 2.4 over the 3.5 with more torque at a lower, more usable rpm.

I like the new ranger interior. I prefer the long tesla-style screen to the short protruding screen. That little shelf space for the passenger is also nice. My wife has a Rav4 with a passenger shelf just like this; it is nice to have.

I’m with you on the torque but that sound coming from a 4cyl under load…. I don’t think many of us are prepared for that….

I personally think the new Frontier has a better interior than any of these. It's simple and clean. I like how it looks like everything was placed in relation to where the screen is, rather than it looking like it was slapped in to place afterwards.

Queue the haters from both sides of the aisle to discuss the artificial engine noise "feature" which may or may not find its way into the new Tacoma. :crapstorm:

What sound is it you are referring to? The ford ranger already has a turbo 4 cylinder and the Silverado has a turbo 4 cylinder. The new chevy colorado and the canyon are about to get that 4 cylinder as well.

The 3.5 is already screaming at high rpms when under high load while towing.
