Just had alignment done. Shop said they have new Hunter Alignment machine and could do custom alignments and get caster close to 3 and camber and toe close to zero. These alignment specs were recommend based on my previous research here for a similar lift that I am running and is always what I have gotten for the most part since I got the lift. Approx 2.5in OME lift with 285/75/16s is what I have.

They got the camber and toe pretty close, but caster at 2 degrees up front. How will this affect the ride and tire position vs 3 degrees caster that I requested? More prone to rubbing or uneven tire wear?

I was a bit disappointed they didn’t get caster closer to 3, but took it for a ride and steering feels much tighter and tracks nice. Just wondering if these are more of the factory spec alignment numbers and if so what negatives if any with the lift setup I am running.

    Thanks!

It baffles me that they set the camber to zero, and lowered your caster below optimal spec.

It would have made more sense for them to leave it and set the toe.

So the big thing is clearance, as long as they maxed the lower eccentric for caster it will push the wheel forward giving more tire clearance away from the cab mount.

I strongly doubt that, as the SPC was already creating caster.

Camber should be 0.6, caster should be 2.5-3.0, toe should be higher just because of heavy tires.

I wish I could do tacomaworld alignments for you guys.

You're fine, I can't tell the difference between 2.0 and 3.0, but any lower than 2.0 is noticeable. I'd just leave it unless it created rubbing.

Thanks for your reply. When you say higher for the toe number what would be a good number?

I took it for a little ride and it felt good overall, but I did hear and feel a little rub pulling into a driveway to turn around with a little incline/bump at end, but it was doing that before maybe a little more prone now. I’ll have to take it onto a sharp highway on-ramp or off ramp for comparison because I would get some rub then only if I took ramp a bit too fast.

Other than running any other issues that with caster not being closer to 3?

Toyota intends Tacoma to run positive camber due to how the suspension behaves on uneven road. Not many shops intentionally run 0 degrees on alignment. It doesn't help with tire wear and isn't intended to be used.

I bump the toe up to counter the force that the larger heavier tires have on the suspension, which results in negative toe at higher speeds. Toyota's toe wear negative, so I always set it slightly higher to work against this with bigger tires.

No other issues, 3 degrees may feel slightly less sensitive at higher speeds, but nothing serious.

This is what I ended up with. No rubbing anymore and truck is driving great. Barrette Fabrication took great care of me had me in and out in less than 2 hours and got my specs pretty much in point with wha to asked for.
