I have a similar commute and get similar mileage differences: 13 vs 20. For me, it is elevation difference. Slightly uphill entire way to work and slightly downhill on the way home.

To be honest, The 4.0 is a different animal at 3,000-3,500 rpm.
Those that tow frequently will know this…..

It makes a world of difference.

Same here with both of my vehicles. Better mileage going into work vs going home.

Didn’t you see Ferris Bueller, it doesn’t work and results in ruining a classic sports car.

    What's this?

    What?

The one singular movie that, at a very impressionable age, taught me that hard work is for suckers, and that the imaginative slackers will always win? That movie?

    Go watch that fucking movie.

I am also a longrange shooter and if the elevation is flat then its the wind (could be your foot since you are dying to get to work).
Try weather underground and look at the wind flags on the wind screen before you leave home and before you leave work.
Remember it does not have to be a head wind it can be a wind from the side. Heading east from flagstaff, AZ on I-40 you have
this situation, and your mileage goes down. Something I have noticed is that an oil catch can seems to improve your mileage.
If you have cleaned your throttle body and intake tube you will notice an oily substance. this goes in and lowers octane since
you are ingesting a gas-air mixture with an oil mist added. If you gas up near home and them near work you may be getting a
better gas ethanol mixture, and yes it varies. Less ethanol better mileage.

I second the oil catch can . You don't want your intake manifold to get gunked up .
