I saw this 1987 Dodge Dakota LE today and got to chat with the owners. It's not everyday you see stock 1980s Dakota that isn't (A) a Shelby, (B) a convertible, or (C) rusted beyond salvation. This one has only 82K miles and everything, including the A/C (still R-12) is in perfect working order!

I missed a SYMMETRY! moment on the turnpike today; I am on my way to a car show in Harrisburg and stopped at a rest stop to answer nature's call...

 

I got to meet Bobby, Juicy, Krazy Dave, and Cousin Johnny from Lizard Lick Towing!

 

Are we supposed to know who Lizard Lick Towing is? Kinda like Matt’s Off Road Recovery?

 

Ron and Amy were not there...

 

When I get home a car show, I am always bushed; I took a 4-hour nap, and now I'm awake so I'm gonna try and post a few...

 

I blacked out license plates, but I am super tired, so I am going to bed and I will post the pictures after my date with Amanda...

 

There were three staged reality shows about towing/repo agencies on TruTV, the original being Operation Repo, which took place in Southern California. Lizard Lick Towing debuted in 2011 and took place in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. South Beach Tow came along not long after Lizard Lick and took place in Miami, Florida. Operation Repo initially aired on Telemundo in 2006 and made it to TruTV (formerly Court TV) in 2008 or so. All three shows ended in 2013-2014...

 

Yup I remember all those. One episode of Lizard Lick they had to repo a car (Pontiac Grand Am/Grand Prix I think) from a tattoo artist and biker, he and his friends beat the hell out of the car. Oddly, Bobby let the guy tattoo him.

I drove the ol’ Danger Ranger today.
Odometer stopped working years ago. Like over 5 years ago.
And you can’t fill it up more than about a 1/2 tank of gas, other wise it leaks…….somewhere.

I am guess it’s close to 300k by now.


Believe it or not, there’s not a check engine light on.








………because it’s burned out.

A guy down the road from me still has a diesel Ranger, last time l talked to him he was around 350K.

 

This is the old 4.0. Push rod engine.
1996 4.0L with 5 speed manual transmission

It’s been well abused……I have no idea how it stays running.

 

Probably outlive most of the junk they make these days.
