Amp 100 watts per channel question on wire gage

Would I be able to get buy with what's in the truck? I have this AMP under my bed that I never put in my Subaru thought maybe the Tacoma.

I’d upgrade speakers, wires and amp over stock. Stock wires and speakers won’t burn/blow up with an an aftermarket amp unless you crank it way up. But I guess it’s up to you what you want to get by with.

I installed my amps under my seats. My bed gets pretty muddy.

 

4 ohm speakers? I personally would rewire with 16 gauge.

 

Was planning on new speakers just don't want to have to reroute and install wires.

 

Gotcha. In that case, new wires. Get some sound deadening while you’re at it. Makes a world of a difference.

 

Alternatively, trade the amp for a small behind-dash unit like the Kicker key or Alpine KTP. That definitely minimizes wire routing.

 

Think I'll go with the small amp 50 watt setup then. Figure I'd see what you guys thought on this new AMP I wont use....lol

That's what I was looking at doing I just don't have that ambition to rewire.

 

i generally run 12gauge for 100w, though i don't like stepping below 14ga for any speaker system in my own vehicle because i'm already spending the time/energy to put it in, the material cost is minimal.

 

i really wouldn't suggest running more than about 30wrms into the stock wiring. it can be done, but the audio quality suffers. if you're going to go through with the expense of installing an amp, installing new wiring to the doors really isn't that much more effort or cost, and will get you the best audio for the effort you're putting into the amp.

 

i rewired all speakers to quality ofc 14g wire. 100watt rms is alot through stock wiring. ive seen it recommended to change out above 80 watts

 

i rewired my parent's old ranger just using an aftermarket head unit, and the difference was noticeable in bass response using the same aftermarket speakers.

if you're wiring, there's little reason not to.
