Guess the radio is too big, Alinco DX70th.
If I push it in from the rear of the front seat it will go a few inches before it hits the frame but that's it, no room for a bracket.
I might could get it under the rear seat but it's closed in with no ventilation and my power cable is too short.

Where there is a will there is away. Mine is under the passengers seat. Assuming yours's is a 4 door there still should be room there under the seat how tall is this thing? According to what I read it's only 2 1/4 inch's high. There is a frame member that it will have to fit behind sideways because of it's depth you may have to lift/remove the seat but there should be plenty room I don't believe there is a vent on the bottom so there is no reason it can't just sit on the floor. Mine has stayed put with no mount for the last 160K miles. Your wiring should be enough to go under the center consoled.

Good morning, just started studying for technician's license so all of this is new to me. Just listening and learning and doing research. Has anyone read this before?

The installation of a mobile two-way radio system in your vehicle could affect electronic systems such as: ● Multiport fuel injection system/sequential multiport fuel injection system

    ● Cruise control system

    ● Anti-lock brake system

    ● SRS airbag system

    ● Seat belt pretensioner system

Be sure to check with your Toyota dealer for precautionary measures or special instructions regarding installation of a mobile two-way radio system.

Is it safe to say this is lawyer speak and a far reach or is there some legitimacy to the above statement?

I haven’t had any issues on my ‘13 even when pushing 50W through my VHF. A quality radio with proper installation reduces the chance of interference significantly.

That is why you need a quality proper tuned and installed antenna and coax. My 3 radios cover from 10 to 220 to 440 no issues with truck electronics even at 100 watts.

Lawyer language. Having your cell phone next to your nuts is 1000x worse. Most radios' spurrious emissions is pretty good, they have to pass to get type accepted. Some of the chinese ones are dirty splatter boxes.... RFI in 3rd gen tacomas is horrible anyway.

Radios are fine they are well regulated for the most part. High SWR antennas, poor coax installs, poor grounding things like that cause issues with vehicle electronics. The vehicle stuff is pretty hardened because of electronics in general, cell phone are no exceptions just another part of vehicle electronics.

On my Access Cab I took the passenger seat out (only 4 bolts) and then installed the RT to the bottom of the seat springs with spacers between it and the springs. That way I could get it in there without the bar and mounting brackets being in the way yet still allowed airflow all around the unit.

    Lawyer speak - ISH

First - Tacoma isn't a hybrid or electric vehicle. In those cases, I have heard (mumblings, high level) problems with radios interfering, either with static or whatnot. Your completely ICE tacoma will be a okay. That said, if it DOES cause any sort of issues, that's on you, not on Toyota.

Second - They (radios) actually DO have issues running through switch panels. Auxbeam et. al. I think it voids warranties/they won't care about a failure if you call them and say it was a radio. So, you'll need to go direct to battery (it's the best way for a vehicle mount anyway).

Edit to add more: That list sounds a LOT like things Toyota has seen before. I can think of (1) cutting wires or using an add-a-fuse for power may have interfered with ABS, SOS, etc and someone tried to say it was Toyota's problem (2) stuffing/running a wire over an airbag or mounting a speaker near an airbag and then getting clocked with it when it goes off. That seems like lawyer speak for "If you do something stupid with a radio, that's on you"

A panel's not the end of the world. There was more issue back when we were running strobes in everything (hideaways and lightheads, not the Edge 9000 bars as much) but having an aux panel from the battery to the cab or box for comm stuff isn't generally a problem.

As mentioned, the tap-a-fuse mentality is where you run into issues with the OEM stuff.

I run high power mobiles, 100-110w. The taco has a VHF 110w with a shitty antenna position currently, and the only issues been with the aftermarket stereo loosing the wired connection to the phone at a few frequencies. I'll roof mount the antenna when I get the measurements figured out and know where to center the darn thing - and presume there won't be many issues from that point on.
