Alright guys, today I got the Driving support computer and 4WD control computer fitted. I kept these in the same location as the GX for ease of hooking up the wiring harness. Roughly layed out the harness on crash bar to make sure the plugs hooked up. Additionally, I made sure the glove box closed. I gotta say it is really satisfying seeing how well the gx harness lays out on the tacoma crash bar. Shes coming along boys!20230214_202356.jpg 20230214_201157.jpg 20230214_201512.jpg

At first it was intimidating but everything is labeled pretty good so it's no so bad. Everything can only be connected in the correct way. Also having gone through it already, I have a pretty good understanding of where everything goes. The only way I have come up with to get the HVAC to work is to pull all the wires from the Tacoma harness. I plan on running them independently with the exception of integrating them into the ignition power source. Additionally the there are two signal wires AC1 and ACT that signal to the ECU to idle up. They appear to have the same function on both vehicles so I will have to solder tacoma wires into GX harness. I'll elaborate more when I get there.

Okay I had to do some rework, I moved the driving support ecu to the right. I forgot about these computers, they were mounted to the left of the blower fan in the GX. These are pretty important, they are smart key, misc power management and climate control. Although I largely will not be using climate control, I referenced the service manual and found out that it controls heated/cooled seats also. Anyway, this was the only spot they fit after I macgyvered these brackets for them. Additionally I put 3M double-sided tape in between each unit. These three did not fit anywhere else. Everything clears and they don't touch the dash.

This is why I love toyota, all the bolt locations were already there for the airbags. I stole the fasteners from the lexus and bolted them right in. Stock wiring runs up the B pillar, I will run it to the back of the cab to the C pillar/back wall. The stock gx wiring will be easier to connect that way.

A lot of wreckers don't even inventory small pieces like this so you can kinda wheel and deal with them on these. They were definitely surprised that I wanted to buy the carpet lol.

Can't wait to see this truck completed. Impressive build for sure. Are you a mechanic by trade? Just curious about your occupation.

Thanks for your support, I went to school for Machine tool technology. I ran a NC mill for a few years and worked my way up to operations manager. I've been messing around with cars all my life, by no means a specialist but enough to be dangerous.

Headliner is in. If anyone has a 2015 dual sunglasses holder laying around I am interested.

Just to clarify on the Tacoma ACT is the A/C enable/permission signal from the PCM and AC1 is the A/C clutch on/idle up request signal to the PCM, looking at the Lexus pinout it's unclear if the functions are the same but the voltage on ACT does look different.
Anyway enjoying following your build so far, your gona have one unique truck when you get done.

How do you know the voltage is different?

Just going by the pin charts for both, it may or may not be an issue depending on the threshold voltage in the A/C Amplifier for allowing the A/C to turn on.

Well if it is going to be an issue than I'll have to get even more creative.
