For those hating on the 4 banger, I towed a 3,700lb dry travel trailer with a 2020 Sierra with the 2.7 turbo, and that low end torque makes towing significantly easier than towing a lighter camper (3,100lbs dry) with the Tacoma’s V6. It’s was also super fast in the Sierra (people forget about how much lighter the 2.7 is versus the 5.3 or 6.2). I’m sure that motor will be awesome in the Colorado/Canyon and if Tacoma’s new engine performs anything like the GMC twins, no one will be missing the V6.

    Googled that too.

Repair Pal has it much lower.

    https://repairpal.com/estimator/toyota/prius/battery-replacement-cost

A lot cheaper than a 3.4 reman engine for my 1st Gen, about $10K when everything is said and done.
Long blocks from the Yota Shop start at $6200, then tack on shipping, sending them back the core. Paying a shop for the install, a few accessories repairs, needs a new AC compressor and probably should do the power steering pump, new hydro lines, etc.

I’m beyond ecstatic to see what kind of banter the 4’th Gen forum will bring. The past ~8 years has been a joy to watch, from a distance, over here.

I absolutely will be buying a next gen Tacoma Pro. But it really annoys me that Toyota is going with the weird bro camo accents all over the Pro models in Sequoia and Tundra. Seems tacky for a high trim model.

you know, I agree. Don't love it on the exterior but don't mind it on the black interior. I guess you could swap it out with the standard OR black accents if you wanted to

That Raptor Ranger color almost looks like Lunar Rock.o_O Also, I'll bet the screen on the new Tacoma head unit fills up half of the dash. It's probably the same one from the Tundra/Sequoia.

Is your mpg on the Rav4 now better, worse, or about the same when it was new 3 years ago? I'm curious to how quickly the battery deteriorates.

Hybrids and non-Hybrids both have internal combustion engines of similar complexity and cost. Here are some comparisons for transmission and battery parts and labour pricing for the curious.

    2023 Tundra Hybrid/Sequoia HV Battery MSRP: $6,352.79 USD; R&R Labour: 2.9 hours
2023 Tundra Hybrid/Sequoia Transmission MSRP: $8,322.00 USD (10-speed Conventional Automatic Transmission); R&R Labour: 6.0 hours

2023 Prius HV Battery MSRP: $5,329.33 USD; R&R Labour: 1.4 hours
2023 Prius Transmission: $4,082.66 USD (Planetary Transaxle); R&R Labour: 8.8 hours

    2023 Tacoma Transmission MSRP: $6,365.59; R&R Labour: 5.7 hours

Over time, I have seen the prices on HV batteries go down on older models, so that may occur with these as well, but then Toyota also starts offering reman transmissions, which significantly drop the pricing. (For reference, the HV battery for an older Prius has an MSRP of $2,750.00 USD, and a reman transmission for a Tacoma has an MSRP of $3,284.91 USD).

In my experience working at a Toyota dealership I would say that, in general, hybrids require battery replacement much more frequently than non-hybrids require transmission replacement.

Thanks for this Jeff. What’s a total engine replacement cost parts and labor for a gen 3 Tacoma v6? If you have it handy

There you go, much better than googling guess work. Was gonna give my buddy who is a service writer a call, but didn’t want to bother him with forum arguing nonsense.

Google is full of shit and shows you what THEY want to show you. You now just showed you obviously have no idea how Google works! LOL

I don't work in the dealer anymore have no idea. Go search a reman transmission. 3x the cost of a remain hybrid battery. You can't simply go by dealer MSRP.

So big surprise, Bronco Raptor costs more than Tundra TRD Pro and Sequoia TRD Pro… if the Ranger Raptor is priced similarly the new Tacoma will be my only option.

Crazy how much the Tundra TRD Pro went up with the new model.

BTW- I can't wait till the 24 comes out. My 22 OR is in trade ready mode as we speak. Don't love the power train and looking forward to an updated engine/hybrid.

Let's just hope some cool colors are introduced or others, such as lunar and cement, are around.
