English language question: does “it” (the thing that will be cool again) refer to the shocking reveal itself, your truck, this forum, or some other mystery subject? The part that gets me is “again”, because, well, I love stories beginning with a nostalgic reference to times past, when such and such was at its height, but has since slipped into unknown oblivion, but is soon to be revived through the heroic efforts of so and so. Sounds like an epic story of the dedication of one man, against all odds, with nothing more than, his tools?

I read “Mormon” and had compiled a long list of suitable answers. Many that might get me three days. I’m glad I caught my error before I hit Post Reply.

You do realize that much of what is sold on Dr. Evil's digital market place is coming from small / local businesses. Sure, Bezos gets his cut, but these small businesses benefit from his world wide digital market and delivery logistics engine.

Justify it however you like. I’ll spend my money directly with the business owners.

The flip side is that the big system gives a lot of cover, unintentionally or not, to an endless avalanche of counterfeit products. I’ve come to be extremely wary of buying on Amazon. I’m also at the point of refusing to buy any product listed as the “Amazon’s Choice” or even “recommended” because there’s no transparency on what’s driving that, so I assume it’s as simple as it was paid for and nothing else.

i do like Amazon as a parts resource simply because i used to have to resort to alibaba and $60+ 30-90 day shipping before.

i used to be able to drop by radioshack for stuff, but with most electronics retailers dropping out, other than microcenter, i'm forced to buy stuff online-only. the pricing really isn't that different between alibaba, ebay, and amazon listings, and amazon i can consistently get it within 2 weeks...

but i go out of my way to not click on sponsored or recommended links, despite amazon making it harder to fall down the rabbit hole and be 30 pages into search results anymore.
