On that note, I had somebody offer me $10 extra to deliver an item 34 miles and a 2 hour round trip away last night. They upped it to $30 and I was like, Chica I wouldn't even do 15 mins for $30. This isn't the first time this has happened before either.

Man, just the labor that guy is paying for a custom exhaust for his Taco...could've put that money elsewhere (and not on the truck ideally).

I mean I don't get having the extra flow and effort on a 2.7 truck, but I get why he wants 304 stainless, he's in NY. If he actually follows through with a turbo it could pay off but the cats will now be a restriction and NY has a air board much like CA so I don't know how he'll get a yearly inspection sticker.

I know they've been cracking down hard on the diesel mod side there, it will be interesting to see if the same happens to gassers

Yeah I do recall their emissions restrictions being pretty shitty.

It's why here in CA if you go catless DP, you better hold onto your OEM goods for smog. Of course having a turbo in a non-turbo car won't pass but I'm talking about catless setups in general.

Who wants to spend a weekend uninstalling long tubes, getting a smog, and reinstalling them

Did that way too many times on my F bodies and Vettes.

WA makes a good argument for living here, no inspections and no emissions anymore. But I know NY copies and pastes CAs stuff in for their emissions rules and regulations so I would imagine that makes it a pain to play around there. I still need to find a large CAT for the taco. I think I am going to use 3" pipe and a 4" cat, that should preserve enough exhaust velocity. Normally I'd just remove the CAT entirely but on a wheeling rig sometimes you need to pack up the truck while its warming up, or idle a long time in the cold while you're inside and having it not smell like a Latvian tractor is nice.

No kidding. I hate wheeling behind people who delete the cat on a 300k mi stock yota or jeep motor for the gainz. The only gain I'm getting is lung cancer lol

Yeah it's brutal on old vehicles that don't have super efficient burn. Like my BMW without the cat smelled occasionally but not very much, mostly probably couldn't tell it was catless. But the cruiser without a cat will murder you in short order just idling.

That sounds awful; can't imagine any gains on a crawler at all...then again you've got guys thinking a K&N filter nets you 20whp

I was talking to someone with a late model BMW here and they claimed that they passed the emissions sniffer running catless. I'd believe it, the new stuff _is_ much more efficient

yeahhh with good gearing having big HP doesn't do a lot unless you're into spinning tires and rock bouncing. Fortunately that's more of an easy coast thing where everything is wet and messy. Around here you just blow shit up lol

Yeah the new stuff that is GDI can get some of the most complete burns possible because they have multiple injection events during a compression stroke and during the actual firing, it keeps injecting during the flame front propagation. And because knock factor is greatly reduced with staged injection you can run even more timing contributing to an even more complete burn because the flame front has greater time to propagate... modern cars are seriously amazing.
