Nope don’t like mine at all. I had $39k just sitting on my dresser and couldn’t figure out what to do with it so I bought a truck I don’t like.

seriously though I had an 87 Toyota pickup in 4x4. It was awesome. I like my 3rd gen Tacoma quite a bit just wish it had some of that old school technology on it. Biggest thing I’d like to still have is the locking hubs.

Me too, even with that it will tend to hunt. Only gripe about S mode is that it downshifts instead of staying in the gear chosen. While the cruise on my manual would lug quite a bit for kicking off.

That is where these trucks could use a better bottom end torque for us slow guys who like to lug under 2000 rpm. Personally a diesel would suit my driving style better, don’t want to pay the upfront cost, nor out of warranty repairs.

My 1st Gen has a 3” lift on it, gotta raise my ass cheeks just a weeeeee bit higher to get in that thing. The 3rd Gen is at the perfect ass height. Told my wife, remind me to not lift this truck. :) would nice to get a higher spring rate without lift, can’t find anything. May do airbags. Also not putting a camper on this truck either. Going the trailer route instead, WD hitch should get me where I want too. Trying to keep it under 3000 lbs, might be ok.

Yes. Those vortrec engines were very torquey, plus no weight in the back of those trucks.

Even 2.8L I had in my Camaro had some balls at lower RPMs, surprisingly.

There’s a reason why those Chevy motors are so popular with racers. Aside from reliability, availability of parts, and simplicity of design…they make tons of power with little work.

At work, we have a fleet of about 55 Chevy express vans mostly with 4.8, a few with 5.3. All engines are converted to run on propane and these vans have a very hard life. Not only folks drive the heck out of them, the engine has to be running while we are servicing peoples homes.

We have very few engine issues. It’s mostly radiator/water pump leaks. But man, those engines are so inefficient haha.

    Damn!!!

My last major injury was end of the day after riding 100 miles of single track on the dirt bikes. Asked my buddy, do want to ride the hard way or the easy the way back to camp? We were beat, let’s take the easy way. Not a couple miles down the dirt road had a head on with a FS truck. Snapped my clavicle in half, and severely sprained my ankle. Ranger asked if I need a ride back…nah I am good (I wasn’t) rode the bikes 20 miles back to camp, stayed the night, packed up the next day then drove home. Right foot, right collarbone, just wrecked. Had those injuries before, didn’t even go to the hospital, went back to work two days later. As long as a keep my thumb in my belt and don’t make any sudden moves, I’ll be “fine”… lol!

So after that one driving a manny, maybe an auto isn’t so bad this go around.

Lots of ways to go when you're running that weight class. My pop-up sits on the heavy end, I'm probably right at the axle rating of 3400 pounds.

I ran roadmasters for years, but ultimately ditched them. Even when adjusting down (adjustments take a good 30 minutes on the RAS springs) they still ride a hair stiff. Now I'm on AAL, but will probably be upgrading to the RXT pack whenever the old leaves finally start sagging. I never ran airbags, but came close to buying several times.

A WDH is definitely the way to go. I don't run one on mine personally, but only because I take mine on light trails and need the unhindered articulation (as much articulation as a 2" ball allows, anyway).

Only 500 miles on my new Sport but 2 things are very apparent to me . The brakes are much better than I read in reviews. Edmunds complained of “ overly grabbing brakes” I’ve had no issues. I have no complaints so far about the tranny also.

Congrats. The two weirdest things about this truck that they don't tell you are: a) it will modify both engine and transmission maps to your habits, and b) from what most people describe, it takes about 1500 miles give-or-take before it molds to your foot.

At least it did for both of mine. As soon as it rolled 1500, the shift map and mileage dramatically changed for the better.

Enjoy it. The more consistent you are behind the wheel, the better it feels. (the Muad'dib hate this truck)

Mine's not perfect, but I love it.

I probably should have done a bit more research on towing before I bought it (23 Limited 4wd DCSB), because the payload does not allow me to tow as big of a camper as I would like (at least with my wife in the truck). But I really didn't want a full size truck- I had use of a Ram 1500 CCSB for a while, and it was a very nice truck, but a pain in tight parking lots.

As a daily driver, I have no complaints.

I find the seats very comfortable. As a rule, I don't care for power seats (I like the speed of adjustment with standard seats), but they do allow adjustment vertically, and I think this eliminates the issues that people seem to have with the standard seats and needing to install the front risers. I was going to order those pre-emptively, and I'm glad I didn't. I don't need them.

I'm a big guy (6'2" & 255) and I have no issues with headroom or legroom once I'm actually in the cab, but I do have to remember to duck & lead with my head to get in.

I find the AT does tend to hunt for gears at times. I don't like that, but it isn't a major issue. If I was a bit younger and didn't have occasional hip pain, I would have gone with a manual. More fun to drive, and it's what I learned to drive on. I didn't own an auto until I was in my 30s.

At nearly $50K, this truck should have come with LED lighting all around, but that's nitpicking and personal preference. The screen resolution for the camera is terrible (I painted the coupler on my utility trailer bright orange so I could see it in the backup view), but the touchscreen is otherwise just fine.

If I had kids or was planning on carrying passengers, I don't think I'd have bought this truck. Not much legroom in back. I don't ride in back, so I don't care about that; I wanted a place for my dogs to ride comfortably and it suits that purpose well.

I figure with the DCSB, I'm getting 80% of what an SUV can do, and 80% of what a standard or access cab truck can do.

I'd like the payload/towing of a 3/4 or 1 ton, but I'd be paying $15-30K more for a comparably equipped truck.

I looked at all of the other options in the class, and it always came back to the Taco. I've had mine for 4 months and 7200 miles, and I still go and take it for a random spin because I like it so much.

If you could get the entire drivetrain from a 4th gen 4runner with the 4.7L the only thing anyone could ever bitch about would be mpg.

Going to keep it simple and do a 5X10 enclose. Empty weight is 1290 lbs., bike and some gear might be hard pressed to break 2500. Knock some windows in it, insulate, cot, 270° awning, done. Like to keep my camp kit fairly lean, don’t even like cooking…usually do dehydrated or canned foods. Only need to heat things up. Cook all the time at home, last thing I want to do while camping.

    https://www.trailersplus.com/Idaho/Nampa/5-Wide-Cargo-Trailers/trailer/4RALS1017PN123553/

Was thinking of doing a Wedge Camper to replace my Wildernest, but seemed like when I would get all set it up, would need to run somewhere. Trailer just drop it.

I just went over 1500 miles and I finally took it out to the desert. Way more comfortable than my 2022 Camry XSE.
