Lol, the USMC has Rangers too. We call them basic riflemen!

These are the guys that don’t understand most units only send fuckups out for this type of cross training. I mean I get along and have respect for most branches and at least different units but holy fuck, the Army! That’s the trailer park of the United States armed forces.

All branches have good units. Shit, the majority of the Marine units I encountered were not great. I had respect for some ODA/OGA groups I worked with. Forward controllers, a couple teams and some teams were shit. It just depends on the unit and the leadership at NCO and above.

Cool, I did several ops with Rangers. The ones I dealt with were less than elite but I am sure some good ones are out there.

In the Army the difference maker between normal normal infantry and rangers is the budget. When you have the money to train right the unit is obviously going to be of a higher overall quality.

I did not, as a scout it wasn’t something we often got slots for. I did work with Rangers a lot as a scout and a lot as a pilot. I’d put my good scouts up against a good ranger any day and they’d perform identical. The sheer amount of time training time my ranger bat buddies got compared to us regular army scouts made the difference and that training is a function of money the unit gets.

I ended my time with a gig like that.
it’s not personal. Just been burned to many times by the Army. A unit above us in Iraq was ripping so we moved north and held security for them while they egressed and they were supposed to bound back and hold our positions as we fell back into them but as we bounded back we found our security points abandoned for several days and most were rigged with IED’s by that time. Other times rangers would show up to somewhere we had been for weeks yelling rangers lead the way BS. Or I would be the QRF. Just a different time I suppose. The Fallujah comment caught me wrong because you are bragging about coming in fresh to a fight that was in the 12th round. I’m just being an asshole but in my experience the Army is really good at coming in when the heavy lifting is done and proclaiming superiority.

No worries man. Like I said. I’m just being a dick. We all take a lot of pride in our service deservingly so. I am sure we could all go back and forth with valid points. It all comes down to the character of the man at the end of the day and not the uniform.

I have said for years the men that deserve the utmost respect were those in WW1 and WW2. I have been through some shit but nothing compared to what those men experienced. My worst days combined would not be a drop in the bucket to what they endured.

My great grandfather was a Marine in WW2. He never talked about it but he left home at 18 and went to Europe, when that was done he went to the pacific and came home at 23. My longest deployment was 9 months.

My Dad was in WWII and the Korean war. He never talked about it until I got out of the Army. Then we only talked about it when we were alone. He Passed in 2016 at the age of 96. I sure do miss him.6FAECD20-F8B5-4FF8-AD67-0C9656D7AD24.jpg

I dont know why I cant see any posts by gyoja75, but I can see the quotes.

seems Marines graduated at a better rate than Army from his class.

Every branch has screwed up troops, screwed up units.
I've seen good and bad across 3 branches

Either you blocked them or they blocked you.
