I have a question...
Does this bright bulb raise chickens himself?


How many of those city folk are gonna be willing to:

1) Muck out the chicken coop? They'll need a coop to keep them from disappearing.
2) Remember that they're livestock, not pets?... [which leads to]
3) Cull the excess roosters?... if you don't there's gonna be... trouble... [which leads to]
4) Are they gonna pluck, gut, etc, the carcasses themselves?
5) Hens eventually have to be culled too.
6) Hens don't lay in the Winter... unless they're fed well (grains, mainly), and kept in a warm well lit, clean(ish) coop. Light is critical if you want them to keep laying.
7) Hens need supplemental calcium for their eggs, such as crushed oyster shells (also serves as grit for their gizzards).
8) Chickens naturally want to eat bugs, worms, stuff like that (Spring through Autumn only). You got room for that in town?
9) Hogs do fine on kitchen scraps. I'm doubtful about chickens.

 

Yea city folks couldn’t do eet either of em!!! I grew up around chickens I’d rather dem than hogs… dat chicken shit is great fer growin dem maters!!

This is why I only buy eggs from stores. If I ever cracked that open into a skillet, I’d be traumatized for life.

 

So they check the store eggs for baby chicks before they sell em?

 

I’m assuming they do. I’ve never found one in there in 60 years as an egg lover
