It's always riding weather as long as the roads and driveway are clear of snow and ice.

Sub-20s are no problem with the right gear.

I don't like riding in rain or fog. We don't get real cold weather for long, but I rode in not long ago when it was in the low 20's. That doesn't bother me.

Fog can be bothersome. I absolutely love riding in the rain. Warm rain, anyway.

6k miles is definitely not something I would be thrilled with either. That said some tires are a trade off between tread life and just how sticky they are. Now that I nave the Nomar and change my own I'm a little less concerned about mileage. I tried a pair of Pirelli Angel GT on the FJR and while the ride quality was really good and handling in both dry and wet conditions were good the 8500 miles they lasted me was subpar. I just change out the Michelin PR4 GT pair last weekend and they gave me almost 12.8k. Rear tire actually could have gone at least another 1-2k miles but the front was definitely toast.

I got the Metzeler Roadtec Z6.

    https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/metzeler-roadtec-z6-sport-touring-tires

They're not super grippy, either. Just cheap, I guess. Most of the reviews don't mention mileage so I guess they weren't long term reviews.

The issue is you don't really know when roads are clear of ice. I'll ride in sub freezing weather if I'm caught in it, but I don't plan for it.

It got a little chilly the end of last week but it’s looking like beautiful weather to ride.

I'm generally riding back and forth to work if it is cold like that, and I scope out the route the day before on my way home, which mediates the risk.

I do plan for it as well. Once fall arrives, the heated gear is ALWAYS in my panniers.

That was cheap. I've only ever owner one pair of Metzlers and they were grippy but didn't last. I think that was on my FJ1100 years back. The Michelins I like now are more expensive than the model they replaced but if this last pair is any indication of lifespan I can accept that. The Pirelli Angel GTs were decent enough but I felt should have given me a little better front tire life. My bike had a new Shinko front tire on when I bought it so I matched up the rear which was due for replacement. Great when it was dry but not good in rain at all.

I've had good success with these types of plugs -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LPQV2DR?ie=UTF8

They are harder to install because you have to remove the tire from the wheel (or at least break the bead and shimmy off one side), but they are more secure than rope and mushroom plugs.

Someone suggested Black Widow in my thread. He said his buddy has Yosh and he has the BW. I'm leaning towards this now. It's not bad for $400 for the full exhaust.
