Yay! There WILL be a season 4 "All Creatures Great And Small" And I get my coffee mug!

Not too sure of the authenticity of tonight's episode with the board game. Look up Lexiko and Criss-Cross Word as predecessors to Scrabble, which was published in 1938, but few were made until 1952.

One big reason I'm so into this series is due to my Great Grandfather's birthplace of Wakefield, just 48 miles from Darrowby. I've never been there, but now I want to see it. The other big reason is coming up next season. I was born in 1940, thankfully in San Francisco, not Great Britain.

 

Oh, that's awesome news, Alan!!! We haven't watched the episode - normally record it and watch it later in the week. You should make the trip over to see it in person. What a beautiful part of the world it is. It will be interesting to see how they treat WWII.

Sorry to hear you had to drop out of firefighter class Robert, at least you are able to stay active with EMS, plenty of other things to keep busy with. I used to be like that and always had to be doing something, now I'm content to just do nothing and only do what I have to!

Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Well, nice; cloudy and warm this week. So, today is the day for the new blower motor, and doing the resistor pack while I'm there. Having to kick start it too regularly. Parts are here, so....

 

Yeah... how 'bout that word, "scrotch"... not to be used in polite company.

 

I’m thinking there might be an English slang definition that isn’t as distasteful as it seems to us.

 

I took it, in the show, as a made up word to get points. Not a real word. I tried looking it up with no results. Do you have a legitimate definition?

 

no, not even a slang definition. Remember, the English have a whole different set of slang words than we do, and as such, scrotch may have a very different connotation to them.
My point was that although possible, it was not likely to have had a copy of the game in England at that time.

 

I read it is a fist punch in the crotch.

That's one reason why you don't buy anything that was in a flood, especially salt water.
How did it get that bad, my 66 doesn't even have contacts that look that bad.

 

Never under water. Second generation have this issue, and that specific contact, on the resistor pack. Blower was sporadically quitting on me. So I got both, and ordered the resistor that came with the connector. Planned on doing both anyway, looks like just in time.

 

Never run the blower on low.
Too much resistance. I always run mine min second position and adjust with temp dial.
I haven’t looked underneath in a few years.
Maybe I will sometime this spring.

Something about the design..... These things point straight up, into a "void" that seems to be where fresh air from the outside vent enters the blower. Since I can't see inside, it's a guess that some "fresh air" might have been used to cool these old resistor setups. I don't know - my guess. Since the replacement is a LOT different!

Just read about where a Rooster killed a man!
According to the article it attacked him from behind and one of the spurs cut an artery in his calf causing him to bleed to death.
Beware of Roosters, sounds like something that you would never expect to happen.
