I have never in any Job I ever had Had Presidents Day a Holiday.

Last year was the first year I processed my own deer, and I threw together a sketchy hoist from a bed frame that had been recycled for a tractor mounted weight lifting rack. It kinda worked, but one of the two halves (of the weight rack) folded like a cheap suit and the other had a lot of flex and threatened to do the same with a lighter deer.

When I saw the mini hoist @six5crèéd made it inspired me to beef up my wimpy hoist.

    Materials list:
One bedframe re-recycled from a weight rack
Two random pieces of rebar from ???
One length of flat stock recycled from a stake that held a little bridge in place over a ditch in our back 40.

This one didn't make it.
    IMG_20221103_145556.jpg

    Hopefully this one will.

Decades ago I worked for the Comm of Mass. We had two, paid holidays which I think they’ve since given up.

One was Bunker Hill Day on June 17th to commemorate the Revolutionary War battle (which occurred on Breed’s Hill BTW) and the other was Evacuation Day to commemorate the day the British were forced out of Boston and surrounding areas. It just happen to fall on St. Patrick’s Day so it was always a favorite of those who had Irish ancestry .

I think a paid President’s Day off has been part of most of the jobs I’ve had.

    Good times :D

Hey man 65 lb deer is still deer. Not setting any records but filling the freezer nonetheless.
I'm at work today, supporting Northrup Grumman guys fueling their satellite at a spaceX facility. Part of why I love this job- I've been right up next to two satellites today that will soon be in orbit and two the guys that wear the suit are from all over. One guy worked in Kazakhstan for 15 years on the cosmodrome that is leased to Russia. American dude.

Thanks everyone... the one piece of information I neglected to include was that this is truly an 'occasional' thing... once every weeks/months. It's definitely not a keep to temperature thing, BUT... I'm liking the idea of something leftover that's corroded.

Took tomorrow off? It’s a holiday… unlike today for most folks not buying a mattress or doing a meeting of Zulu and Rex taking control of the city for a day. :D
