    Has your Torch worked loose?

Causing it to move slightly at times?

Your still in the learning and growing pain stage.

Kind of like Spring training. You will get it dialed in and learn the cause of these glitches and the fix.

    How was the Baby Shower??:fingerscrossed:

Over the past month and a half, we've received a ton of clothes, baby toys, adjustable high-chair, baby bath tub, bassinet, badass stroller, car seat, playpen, play swing, and other odds and ends from our registry (Target and Amazon).

    It's a lot we've received already.

Yesterday's baby shower I figured would've just been a few gifts, and our way to give everyone else a chance for delicious food, games, get together, etc.

NOPE, we got a shit ton more in that my Land Cruiser was completely packed full of gifts -

    20230218_160214.jpg

    20230218_160223.jpg

Wife's car was packed with diapers (we had a diaper raffle).

Today? More gifts arrived via mail and her aunt called to ask if there was anything we didn't receive so she's buying a dresser for our nursery.

We're beyond blessed, so much I'm at a loss for words.

Torch hasn't moved, but based on my assessment the bevels are largely due to the torch height moving unevenly.

My gantry tube must not be as square as I thought, even though I squared it as much as possible upon initial assembly.

Also, there's a discrepancy between my actual measured torch height versus what is programmed in my CAM software.

I'm supposed to be at .065 but actual measurement is .0565; I got this figure when I paused the torch at mid-cut. This was only on one end so that paired with anything being slightly off square would cause a huge difference in torch height across my piece.

    This is the assumption anyway.

Coming from the 3d printing world.. bevel sounds like out of square x or y axis or a bend in one of the rods, combined with your stepper motors possibly not being calibrated right (z axis height discrepancy)

I dont know the specifics of your machine, but here are some things I would suggest checking based on your results:

    Table zero
    Gantry to table squareness
    Gantry level
    Torch / z axis mounts
Motor mounts / gear mesh / belt tension

The partial cuts make me suspect whether the gantry and table are level and level with eachother. A degree out can cause acceleration issues. The other suspect to me would be some time of binding causing drag and release on the gantry, especially since the lost cuts are along the same axis is the same spot, just different directions. Something is out of alignment causing some drag, and then releasing cause the speed to increase or a parameter to exceed limits (perhaps torch height, as you stated) go back and check alignement, especially any gear mesh or drive belt tensions. I had similar results when I first installed my arclight dynamics and my multicam units ... but were solved by adjusting the drive belt tension (arclight) or drive motor gear mesh (multicam).

You just discovered what the IHS Springback feature can do to you. Most people find it causes torch hght to be more than programmed, but ...this is a good explanation. You just need to acct for it when post processing.

Cut height calibration (IHS Springback) - CrossFire ® PRO - Langmuir Systems Forum

Also, I was glancing at LT thread last night and saw you were thinking you can't export dxf. You can:

    Save DXF.jpg

Next time you need it, just start a new sketch and Insert it again:
    Insert DXF.jpg

Also, here is a good explanation of file mgmt in F360:

So in short just change my springback distance as specified by another user there? Seems like that'd be the ticket. This is of course based off initial height setting, and measured distance versus requested distance from torch to piece.

As for the files, I don't know if you caught it but I'm on the free version of Fusion360; you have to pay to export to dxf and many of the other popular file types.

I'll try again but yesterday when I tried to export, all the file types I wanted were greyed out (not able to select). There was a link before that with a note and asterik stating if I wanted to export to other file types like SVG, DXF, etc I need to subscribe.

Thing is far to many think it is a thing.

I have seen You Tube listed in education on applications a few times in the last years before I could no longer work.

I helped friends go through applications in the Pre Covid days and give welding tests.

Can you export the file before you extrude. Your image is not a dfx.

Dfx files have no dimensions. You have to scale a dfx then extrude...I think.

Computer search term I am lucky I can turn the computer on. It was a needed evil for work.

What if any terms have you tried ?? I am more a telephone person.

Just what Codes do you need to test for?? Many times the agency who the code is under can point you to a third party test location. Not all locations can test for all the codes.

My first move would be contact your Local AWS chapter.

Any Adult Evening Classes teaching welding

Just what City are you close to.

I know all the people to ask in my area .

I need to give this some thought if I needed to get a new Hire Certified far from home.

Some companies will certify you, if you already know how to weld but don't have certs.

I got certified for MIG and STICK at school, but certified for TIG at work.
