You’ll love it. Definitely not cheap. I’d definitely get a 22 or newer only because they added a couple nice things the previous ones don’t have. You won’t regret it. You can also mod these things for days.

Sure, once I break the motor in properly. Only have 220 miles on it. Not sure how far I’ll go on mods. So far just did a catch can. I’ve thought of a tune, intake, bigger intercooler, and exhaust. I don’t want to go too too crazy though.

It’s awesome. My very first drive in it, I was not prepared for the punch it had.

Hopefully your domestic boost adventures end up better than mine.

Anything I may do performance wise would just be a tune and supporting bigger intercooler. Nothing to great push its limits. No bigger turbos. The eco boost is a safe reliable proven motor.

Yeah I know. Guilty as charged, no debate there. I got to keep it safe for real this time. This is too expensive of a daily driver to ruin.

I feel the same way about the Z. As modest as possible, but they have a well documented history of oil pump failures so I know at some point I'll be having to tear into it no matter what with an upgraded oil pump unit, which will force me to do a cam of some sort and linked lifters. So it basically winds up becoming a forced build which is something I never wanted.

These eco boosts, Raptors specifically are very easy to go down that rabbit hole with. It’s got plenty of power as to why I don’t need to make it a complete beast.

It being your daily should be the main reason to mod it lol. Doing pulley, injectors and tune on my TRX was the best thing I ever did. But do wait a bit to make sure you use your warranty for any issues

Yeah… all this talk and recent issues has me just staying where I am at on the Tacoma - back up to a 2.7” pulley (at ~5300’ normal elevation). It’s good power for now and having motorcycles (not even fast ones), the Tacoma will never be as fast as that. It is a very fast camper-mobile though that is way more fun to drive that any van camper I have borrowed.

I have no interest in having any failures or pushing it to the limits - just preventative maintenance costs.

Always gotta wait the warranty out! Got a free rear drive shaft under warranty on my truck for a failed carrier bearing.

Didnt you buy that truck with a built motor? Regardless, at that elevation you are not even in the ballpark of pushing any limits
