    Sounds like it's a non-issue for you

Start stop doesn't activate when it's extremely cold or hot outside. The cab temps have to be maintained and if AC or Heat can't keep up with engine off, the Start/Stop won't kick in.

Exactly. After a while you either shut if off every time or get used to modulating your brake pedal to keep it on or off.

Due to EPA testing mandates, most manufacturers choose to have in on every time you restart the car. It's the same reason most cars that have a sport mode start in normal mode. EPA rules state a test must be performed on a car with no changes any modes.

I’ve got an F-150 for work and turning it off becomes part of the routine every time you climb in. I’d buy the dongle but it’s not my truck.

Whatever design Toyota makes, it will not beat the beauty that is the 3rd gen.

I’m going to throw out there for some of those concerned about a redesign that after 5k miles on my 23 Tundra it’s the best truck I have ever driven. I have owned over 20 full and midsize trucks over the last 30 years and this Tundra is the smoothest riding and best Powertrain of all them. I kept a gen1 crew cab 4wd V8 Tundra since 2006 as a family truck while recycling the others out because of how solid a truck it was. I was pretty concerned with getting a 23 to include the turbo V6, new technology, giant display screen, ect. I can say this truck has performed as well towing and light off road activity as well as it does on the highway and around town. The new Tacoma when it gets here is going to be a good truck. Might take a year to work out the bugs like the Tundra did, but after that it will keep its place as the best mid size truck. Till then enjoy those previous Gen Tacos.

In my experience with Nissans and Fords for work, that's not the case. We get weather ranging from 90+ to -20 and those vehicles shut off whenever they wanted regardless of the temperature outside and regardless of where I had the climate settings. Toyota might be different.

It's a non issue, but it's a feature that is not necessary. Most people will idle away more fuel using remote start than they ever will sitting in traffic where auto start/stop is designed to work.

What start/stop is under discussion? When the engine shuts down at a red light, for example?

Carmaker's entire credibility is hinging on these predictions.

I think a Turbo TRDOR Tacoma will be sweet as long as you can bypass the possibility of auto start stop and the hybrid is optional like in the tundra

I could see it for a short time “due to ongoing supply chain constraints” BS, but not long term.
