Sold the frame to a guy I’ve bought/sold with before. He already has a Large Arrival but wanted to size down.

Still have with CC. Haven’t 100% decided on the next ride. Of the two bikes I’m deciding between, one uses that same size shock.

Shoot me a text when you decide if you want to sell the CC.
Did you sell him the wheelset also?

Been wanting to get to those trails! For some reason I thought that area would be all New England tech chunk - looks like there is some good flow mixed in. Seems similar to Vietnam in Milford.

I got an email this morning saying COMBA won't be apart of IMBA starting in March.

From my perspective, this doesn't change anything. They still make/work on trails. I'm sure they will help with events in the area.

But does this mean they are more free to do whatever they want as far as hosting events? Like they could potentially do events that IMBA wouldn't allow?

Or does this separation more of a money thing? Now they keep all the membership money but are responsible for insurances and other behind the scenes things?

The email touched on some stuff, but mainly said I need to create/change my account to work with COMBA.

I'll still have my IMBA membership since Colorado Springs Medicine Wheel (trail advocates down here) are still part of IMBA (so far and I haven't heard of them going their own way).

It really depends how robust those replacement programs are in lieu of IMBA's provided services. IMBA takes a percentage of dues for insurance, advocacy (lobby group in DC), bookkeeping, traveling education groups, discounted in-house trail building group, etc. But with dues it's kinda like social security - the big MTB groups subsidize the smaller undeveloped MTB groups. This obviously has pluses and minuses depending on your club's situation. From my perspective it seems like some groups "graduate" from IMBA because they believe their internal infrastructure is better than IMBA benefits. In my opinion IMBA provides a great foundation for a club for when the leadership inevitably turns over and new leadership needs guidance.

Sounds good, thanks for the info! I'd be flying in on Thursday night, and looking to ride Friday-Monday. It looks like there are rain chances during the weekend, so I'll need to keep my fingers crossed.

Random question you may or may not have an answer to - how is the Uber/taxi situation from XNA to Bentonville? I'm not renting a car since I can get everywhere by bike once in town, but at 8-9pm on a Thursday I hope the airport isn't a no mans land for transportation.

Our trails (Fruita area) have been trashed/ I wouldn’t even ride them for another month

Fruita particularly is the last to dry- and we’ve had the most snow I’ve ever seen here

    Yeah.
Yeah, they added that Saturday rain chance after I posted this.

You should have no problem getting an Uber or taxi. I think flights continue to arrive until about 10 or 11 (or they used to, anyway).

i havent ridden fruita, but thought it was one of the more year round places to ride.

i kind of put it up there with canon city/pueblo and hartman rocks as far as trails to ride in the winter

The desert out there just soaks up water.
Some of the trails around us are more sand and they dry out first. Then some of the more techy trails are a lot of rock but nearly every trail has a good bit of bentonite clay that just soaks up the water and takes ages to dry. Especially b/c a lot of them have long shaded sections from the rocks.

Its similar to most where if you are out before 10am its frozen and great- but then it gets soupy.

Of course it never stops people from rutting them out and hikers with dogs haha (Which I don't mind) but they rut out the trails for awhile... One of the trail heads at West Loma had some 4x4 put massive ruts to the TH.. So bad I don't think most people will be able to get up the steep hill to park haha... Oh well...

We are around a 10-11 month riding season depending on snow- Moab tends to be a little more friendly.

On a side note- we got 5 inches of snow last week and they just issued a snow squall warning... Such a bizarre winter. Never seen this much snow here.

For you southern Utah guys - got my tickets booked for the first week of April and heading to St. George....getting routes lined up and looking for any input on must hit trails. So far looking at doing Gooseberry Mesa and Guacamole, Dead Ringer/Hurricane Rim. Couple other ideas floating in the group messages, but with only 4 days of riding would prefer not to burn one on a 'eh' trail.
