Fun weekend everyone! I feel like the ice road truckers got nothing on us at this point lol. Seriously though, a I didn’t do the math, but at least half of our total mileage on Saturday was on pure glassy ice. I should figure out how to fit this drive experience into my resume :D

The little detour to the boat launch this morning was a great idea. First time I’ve ever heard lake ice make those weird cracking noises.

It was coming straight for ya! You had no choice!

Not to sidetrack, but I just came across this video. While it’s not a Hilux, the vast majority of the driving IS off-road!

Thanks for being the TWExpress Rich, hope the booster works for you Dan! Be sure to check voltages with a meter to double-check and if your battery light stays lit flip it 180 degrees. Hope it serves you well so you can get full use on the winch!

Oh dang I didn't notice you could actually see the sun for a few minutes, nice photos! And as others have said thanks again for organizing. Also thanks for not rage-quitting from all of the ice, we know it's your favorite!

Morning adventure was fun, nice job on photos I forgot to even take any there but I should have!

Good seeing everyone again and meeting the new folks! Next trip is hopefully just a little bit warmer. I just got home a little while ago and catching up on a few chores, will share photos/videos when I get some time (hopefully not too long). For now I'm going to bed I'm wiped.

Lol! I was trying my best not to sound crabby on the radio. You should have heard me when the radio was off!

It was funny bumping into you at the gas station. I was going to wait around while you were inside, but I suddenly remembered there was a Hardee's in Medford and became very hungry.

LOL yeah I bet you were having a nice conversation with yourself off the radio. I'm not a fan of doing that many miles on butt-puckering ice either but it was an experience!

And yeah I was actually going to just roll with you to the gas station in the first place until GPS made me take that goofy wrong turn. Crazy that I caught up with you, glad you didn't wait though I was inside "filing some paperwork" hahaha. Hardees is awesome though, I missed that.

I'm probably weird but the ice didn't really bother me. It's just a matter of managing your traction, staying loose and constantly looking for possible additional traction. Doing it in a pickup is nothing after trying it in a big truck. I did have one moment where the front went numb on me and it took a few seconds before it hooked up again. Glad it wasn't like @Stoney Ranger's moment, that'll get your heart pumping! Nothing like being along for the ride!

I was out for a good time and was successful, even with having to do it all in one day!

Who could have guessed what the trails would be like with the winter we've been having?

I've never seen so much glare ice in my life. I'm not sure if that's typical for the area, but it was definitely more than I had expected.

For the most part, I thought it was interesting. I had a few close calls, but was able to straighten it out. The only part that was really miserable for me was that stretch with the ruts you couldn't get out of, and really didn't want to. I was fighting the wheel constantly, just waiting for the ruts to force me into the ditch.

That snowy side trail was fun! It's too bad we ended up having to back out.

I just took my hand off the wheel when we were in the ruts, it was pretty much auto pilot!
I totally agree on that fun side trail, it was way cool.

Pulled into the lot at work this morning and saw that the two guys in the finance department had cleaned up their pavement princesses this weekend. Couldn't resist parking next to them. Neither of theirs have seen mud that I'm aware of and I had to give them some crap. :D

I noticed that mine looks about the same. How did they get like that from ice driving?

Couple of those gravel sections kicked up some dust. Best guess is the ice/snow caused the sides to get wet, and those few dusty areas coated the wet parts in a sandy mix, and then it was cold enough to freeze it in place and dry quickly.

The weather was too warm today to resist. I ran mine through the carwash (twice), and took the garden hose out of hibernation to give the frame a rinse.

Although, now that it’s clean, I can see the new pinstripes lol

Exactly what I say!!! It’s a new 4runner, but so what? Pinstripes are proof I use my 4x4 to wheel bro! If I wanted perfect paint, I’d leave it parked in my garage……… I love pinstripes, so much character……. It’s ok, I’m fine…………….really, it’s no big deal.
