Radio completely silent

2015 trd sport. Radio won’t make a single bit of noise. Hopped in the truck started it, Bluetooth connected started playing for a sec and then nothing. Pressing buttons doesn’t even give off a beep.

anyone ever have this happen? Thanks

 

Happens occasionally. Stop & restart the engine sometimes works. Or just drive to a better reception area, out of that dead spot.

 

Not sure how better reception would fix this but I did try restarting and nothing changed. I'm leaning towards the radio shit the bed..

 

Fuse?

Thanks. Pretty sure it's going to be a head unit like this guy ultimately came to.

No apple watch and the volume doesn't work for AM/FM/bluetooth etc...

 

You did say RADIO. I was thinking music app.

 

mine does this about 1-2 times a year then reboots.
usually takes a minute or two to start rebooting.

 

Mine did this about a year after I bought it new, would just keep rebooting every few minutes. Dealer replaced it under warranty, all good till last year when it started doing it again in the winter, but when it warmed up went back to normal. Then again this year after a really cold snap to the point I had to pull the fuse as you couldn’t shut it off. The good news is that all Tacoma radios from 2014 to a 2019 are plug and play except the JBL ones. Took apart the old one and the main board was full of corrosion on most of the solder joints so suspect this is the problem. The new 3rd gen radios are nice but the screens are a bit bigger the the 2014-15 ones and you have to modify the faceplate to accept them. Might want to look in the audio form as a lot of guys are going with the Joying radios.
