It’s actually the exact opposite of what that saying means.

Yep. I tried talking her into an EV. Let me use it for my commute, her the Tacoma. Though the knuckleheads at her school would beat the shit out of the Taco’s sheet metal. Wasn’t too keen doing that to my brand new truck.

We started talk, the hybrid Corolla Cross makes more sense since I could pull my moto trailer with it, and not worry about range, as a cheap EV wouldn’t make it to the trailheads I like to go. Plug in RAV4, looked even better, electric for around town, tap into gas mode on longer weekend trips. Unfortunately they want $40K+ for those. Doesn’t make financial sense. That buys an awful lot of fuel and repairs for my old beater truck that now gets barely driven.

Also comes down to wants too, rather enjoy driving my truck. Tell my wife, well it would be nice to save on gas, she replies back, you can afford it, I know you hate cars, why be miserable? True true…

    Cool!

Still a car though. Can’t see it holding up very well on shitty roads though. Don’t those things go through ball joints already since they are rather heavy, yeah?

Thumbs up! After getting my new truck, my love for the old stuff faded away. New tech looks amazing, I sure do like those Rivians, however with anything new, going to wait see how the tech evolves.

Seems like a lot of the EV stuff coming out now is super proprietary, like the Rivian coming with a built in tonneau. I picked the taco because I thought it'd be both useful and fun to mod/put doodads on. I'm sure lower footprint stuff, like tonneaus or racks, will be more widespread from third parties soon but I wonder about tires/suspension etc. with how purpose-built components seem to be on EVs right now.

That being said, mostly likely going to pick up a chevy bolt or something of the like soon.

    Holy hell that thing SHRIEKS.

What kind of camper do you have? I'm going to guess airstream. Could be off base, but those are really nice.

Pretty interesting way to be mobile and enjoy the outdoors in CO. I became homeless 6 years ago and we were living out of our 28' camper in a KOA. That was not a good experience due to lack of planning (deal fell though on house we were going to buy).

We had trouble finding places to stay in the winter north of Fountain.

A 20’ Outdoors RV, full up four season trailer with big tanks, built in generator, solar, the works. Airstreams are super nice but they really aren’t four season capable in a cold climate like CO.
