About the fact that those have no plastic in the engine bay. No plastic manifolds, covers, pipes..whatever

Timing Chain Cover leaking seems to be the most popular here plus others. i realize that the complaints are a small sampling of how many have the issue. i wonder of all the 3rd gen owners how many even know of this forum. My biggy is the 3.5 and it's Atkins Cycle engine. Had they been showing the video of how it works on the showroom floor when i bought my 2016 i would have never bought it.IMO, old fart here

There is nothing crappy about the leaf springs, other than low spring rate, its the stock shackle hangers that suck. Hammer Hangers transform the rear suspension with stock springs, great combo for ride and handling

I have a 2022 Tundra with rear coils, and the rear suspension sucks. Rear Bilsteins are so lame, the rear suspension only has 7.5" travel, less than a 2nd/3rd gen Tacoma, and the ride isn't that great from coils.

    The frame is amazing though

Timing chain cover leak is a known issue but doesn’t seem to be very common. 2nd gens also have same issue on the 4.0, but a lot of high mileage 2nd gens out there with no timing chain cover issues.

“Atkinson cycle” can be disabled with a tune. It just holds intake valve a bit open during compression stroke for “better” fuel economy.

i've read where the Gen4 owners will have some version of a hand wave, similar to jeep owners. :headbang:

Regardless of what it is they still make sound on a $35k truck (2015 price). When I buy a '75 Ford pickup for $1500- and the springs don't make sound then I believe that is enough said.

Track it down, quit complaining. As a classic truck owner though, I agree the old stuff is sweet.

If I would have wanted a turbo 4 banger, I would have bought a Ranger. Not interested.
