You can get the oem coilover front and smooth body rear or the extended version. You can find them on accutunes website or similar.

 

I have the Icon RXT on mine, option 3 since I also have a rear plate bumper with a spare tire mounted. No complaints here. Also have extended shocks in front and rear.

The GFC is what, 275lbs? you don't necessarily need a lift, especially if you don't plan to add more. Definitely will want to upgrade your leaf springs though at the very least. Will also depend on what kind of camping you plan to do, lift is really just for clearance underneath if you do any sort of real wheeling.

 

I put Icon RXT stage 2 on a friends truck. Some rake, but its what he wanted..

I agree that you don't have to lift, but i think 275lbs after some time will sag.

I have Deaver Stage 3, and I think im at the border of stage 2/3, in terms of weight. I have nothing in the bed, a high clearance with swingout, and a spare 285/75/16. I think im right around 650lbs for daily driving. I think the stage 3 is 700lb+ daily weight

 

Yeah definitely agreed 275 will still sag after some time, and much sooner on OEM leafs vs aftermarket. Depends really on the owner how much that aesthetic and the mild decline while sleeping might bother them.

Yeah sounds like you are right where you wanna be for the deavers. Icon RXT option 3 says it's good for 600+ lbs in the bed, with the GFC at 275, my spare tire at about 85lbs, and the rear bumper at around 230lbs, I'm just under that 600lb threshold. truck seems to be perfectly level as it is. Probably pushing about 750 or so in the bed when the truck is fully loaded for camping.

 

Are you saying that after I ate a pizza I would make your truck sag; if I hung out in your bed for an extended period of time.

i have the bilstein 5100s with the icon add a leaf. Gointo upgrade to something better than an add a leaf here soon though.

 

Also, did not realize this thread was even on here. But i just purchased a second hand V1 about a month ago! Truck is sitting on 5100s with the icon add a leaf. This weekend i got a some inside lighting figured out, third brake light wired, and built a platform/step that double as one of the dog beds since i dont plan on lifting a 120lb Sheppard up there haha

 

first full tank with the gfc, averaging about 16.5 mpg. not bad!

 

You must be mostly stock lol.

Highway cruising I get about 15mpg. city/highway mixed I get about 13 lol

 

just suspension, wheels, and tires. Ive also got a decent amount of gear in the back currently

 

Sounds about right lol.

I think my MPG drops to like 11-12 when i'm fully loaded for camping and driving anywhere that isn't flat

 

i mean yeah, thats pretty normal. no need to have anything in there when im commuting..

 

Finally got around to mounting my panel. Went with a 100 watt Renogy. Mounted to the underside of the beef bars. Managed to sneak the wires through the small gap where the side of the bed meets the front of the bed. Nice to not have to drill any holes this way.

 

I originally did that too, but changed to going under and then up through a drain hole


What battery do you have? I had a group 24 deep cycle, but found that only solar wouldn't run my fridge. I changed to a dcdc dual input so if my battery ever ran down I could charge by driving too

 

I just stuck 3 15Ah batteries in a tool box that live under the boards in the bed. The objective was to keep everything self contained to the camper and easily removable.

I'm only running lights in the camper and charging cell phones etc. The solar just makes it nice not having to worry about charging the batteries before leaving for a trip.

Of course now I've started thinking about adding a fridge, so I may have to add a DC/DC charger at some point. From the little bit I've started looking into it I'm kind of right at the border line of being able to run a fridge with this set up.

 

I recognize that Renogy kit, as I also had it for a few years. It was good for what i needed

 

I know a number of y'all have done the portable heaters, thought some of yall would find my permanent install interesting

 

I have three beef bars that i got with my GFC that im not going to end up using. They are for the standard size GFC and are coming off of a V1(not sure if that makes a difference)

Added a rear awning using both the GFC awning brackets and the Ironman4x4america quick release awning brackets. The GFC brackets don’t fit on the rear (despite what GFC told me) so I had to add a 3/8 spacer and get some longer bolts. The quick release brackets are nice since this is my daily driver and there is no reason to leave the awning on all the time. The quick release brackets are lockable too. Can also still easily access the tent latches and still use the fly rods.
