Maybe but they didn't have the issue with the tundra swapping out the v8 so why would they with the Tacoma

I can't see that happening unless Toyota continues selling the 3rd gen along side 4th gen.

Which Toyota might do, if 4th gen production is delayed and trucks are slow to roll off the line.

Just looking at the new GMs, and I'm not a GM fan. I don't like the screen and shiny black plastics inside the new Colorado, and there's no extended cab or long bed version. I would buy the new GM before the 4th gen Tacoma.

For example the new Tundra’s hybrid saves average 3 mpg vs the non-hybrid version.

If I drive 19k miles per year and based on a gas price of $3.50/gal, I save $477 per year for the hybrid version. After 14 years then you’ll save enough to replace the battery.

Take the extra cost for buying a hybrid, maybe insurance, you’ll spend more on the hybrid vs non-hybrid.

That means if you replace the battery every 15 years, you’ll never save on the hybrid Tundra, because of the extra cost of buying one.

    Not in this lifetime Toyota.

Drive a hybrid before posting please. Your perspective will change. I recommend the RAV4

    A few.
He already has credibility. Everything he stated about the 2022 Tundra was accurate

I think this misses the point of the i-Force Max. It's not designed for efficiency or value, but rather performance. The hybrid is the high output powertrain moving forward, not the better value long term.

I think the combined overall MPG advantage of the hybrid is only 1 MPG

I hope the Tacoma hybrid also has an eye toward significantly improved efficiency. There is no reason a mid-sized truck cant average 25 MPG in 2023.

TRD Pro is off road performance, I was referring to powertrain performance. Similar to the 5.7L & 4.6L in the old Tundra. The 5.7L cost more and was not more efficient than the 4.6L, but people bought for the performance (power/torque).

Maybe, but that has yet to be shown. What we have so far is Toyotas perspective on truck based hybrid systems is to push performance and worry less about efficiency.

This is a new rav but they finally updated the 360 camera, this is better than tundra has, watch the black space fill up after the camera has its image.

I’m hoping all toyotas get this clarity and prediction tech.

also showing what the radios operation looks like with current gen.

I believe in a normal year with no dealer shortages and/or production delays that the Ford Maverick would pass the Tacoma as the best selling midsize truck. It would all be based on better fuel economy and price.

It's the same with the new GM twins, sure 310 hp and 430 ft lbs of torque sounds like a lot of fun, but I'd rather have the current Tacoma specs (278hp/265ft lbs) with 25mpg. I have a strong feeling that we are not going to get that option though.

My ownership experience with Ford, Jeep, Honda has been different. It never once shut off on me when it was very cold out. Other times, in the summer for example when it was around 80F, it would shut off for a bit but then start right back up if AC wasn't able to keep up.

Either way, these systems aren't designed to shut off on you and freeze you out, or make it unbearably hot inside. No company would design it that way, but I can't explain your own experiences with it either. If they aren't working the way they are designed a simple press of button fixes the issue. The systems are not going away and will be in every single car in the next couple years if not already.

No money, all went to truck...
Nah it won't. Even with delays, Toyota would still have very strong sales with current generation.

I'm hoping that the vehicle shortage will have outright ended by the time Gen 4 Taco hits the lots. I feel that there is at least a 50% chance it will have.
