    Damn. Those are nice.

Bet that Rivian pulls it around with ease.

I could see if it was a Tesla Semi, or if someone ordered a new R1T. Having to have a R1T today does not make sense to me.

There can't be as many people buying these as there was two months ago.

It does better than my old 2500 diesel. Having 900ft/lbs of torque instantly is amazing when towing, no waiting on a transmission to shift or turbo to spool. I just can’t go more than 125 miles without charging but since I don’t tow long distances it’s not been a problem yet.

The R1T has to be the 2nd worst selling used pick up out there, with the GMC Hummer EV takinng last place.

    Yep.

Don’t hate the Tesla, have a couple clients that have them. Driven them, they certainly are quick, fit and finish was rather lacking. Didn’t scream luxury to me. That and not really a car guy. They get all excited, hey come look at my Tesla! I am like, yep it is a car…*yawn* man, how about that Elon Musk, eh? For a guy who wants to save humanity, he sure isn’t very nice to people.

Now that Audi E-Tron is hawt!

I don't know where those statistics are. Used 2022 Tundras have probably outsold used 2022 R1Ts.

That isn't bad. My old tundra could only go 100-125 miles towing 8k.

With the amount of R1Ts that have been built I can't help but think it's probably the least popular used truck on the market.

That’s not hard when there’s only 15k or so R1Ts produced in 2022.

Wait times are over a year for new, or you can have a lightly used one today. My coworker has been waiting nearly a year, and it’s still another year out since he ordered the 400 mile Max pack. Some people don’t want to wait a year for a vehicle.

That's the thing may as well wait, and why does anyone need it now? The R1T debuted in 21, it's not like it came out last week.

Some people want it now and have the money to get it now. Pretty damn simple.

Sometimes you can’t wait a year for a new vehicle. Maybe your vehicle got totaled. Maybe the engine blew and your current vehicle turned into a money dumpster fire that you want out of now (like mine). Maybe you are having a kid and need to lose the 2 seater for a 4door. There can be all sorts of reasons why someone can’t wait a year for a new vehicle, but also maybe they just don’t want to.

I'm not sure what "popular" is supposed to mean in the context of your sentence. The Rivian production numbers are low. Do you mean common or plentiful?

You can buy any vehicle if you need to replace one today, it does not have to be a R1T it can be any vehicle.

I would think most people who are buying an $80'000 pickup truck, could afford a temporary vehicle until their R1T is delivered if their current vehicle wasn't working for them.

    Toyota Tacomas are popular.

Certainly could, yes. Take losses in tax/depreciation/trade-in value for a vehicle that isn’t the one you want plus wait an additional year or buy a used one today with only a few months of use on it. The idea of buying an interm car doesn’t appeal to me personally, I’d opt for used as long as prices are reasonable.

I’d have a Rivian if you could buy one off the lot when I ordered mine. My Gladiator blew the motor and I wasn’t keeping it around after that kind of repair cost to give it another opportunity to screw me over. But the very few 2nd hand Rivian units at the time were being sold were way more than new (like $35k+), clearly a scalping kind of market scenario in the beginning.

So I bought a 20 year old 1st Gen DC Tacoma and then bought a new Tesla 3 which only had a lead time of a couple months vs years. Combined cost is less than a Rivian, the Tesla does better at some EV car things with heat pump, Tesla charge network, driving performance/efficiency and the ability to get usable recharge range off of 110v outlets when visiting family out of town, making it a more ideal EV in many ways. The Tacoma has advantages in being a 20 year old truck for truck duty things vs scratching a new $100k truck. It’s actually worked out for the better I think for my use case.
