Favorite Whiskey?

Crack is whack. There's just no way I'd pay that.
Old Weller and EH Taylor is hard to find around here. My local store is doing this correctly I think. They got in 1 bottle of CYPB (and other hard to find stuff at times). Posted a pic on facebook, you like, comment and share. They will then randomly pull a name and you can buy it at actual retail (or extremely close). CYPB for $80, EH Taylor for $46, etc.

 

Just popped the cork on this one. Smells amazing.

 

What I’ve heard from store owners in non-controlled states is they’re extremely reluctant to sell hard to find bourbons to people who are likely to just resell them privately anyway. If they could “know” that you would actually drink it, they’d be more interested in selling it to you near retail. At least that’s true for the quality store owners.

I’ve scored a couple times just because I’m the course of a conversation the owner came to believe I was actually going to drink the bourbon myself. The good ones are super sick and tired of the resellers, they just want to put out an amazing selection and put hard to find stuff in the right hands.

 

Ageed. That's exactly how I have cultivated my relationship with my main store. I have never sold a bottle and I have enjoyed lots of bourbon that most folks would consider investment purchases.

Been a while since we’ve seen grandma’s bourbon!! What’s the special occasion? You playing in a Rummikub tourney tonight?

 

Tastes VERY leathery and deep. A 16yr old bourbon at 106 proof has some serious depth. Smells like sweet soft caramel but is pretty strong on the tongue. Very strong leather and oak. Not for the faint of heart, at least not neat. I like it and am looking forward to it getting a little air.

I legit feel like an old man today. I smoked my back doing yard work yesterday. Then being hard headed, I did squats today. So I have icy hot on my lower back. The added menthol goes nicely with the Harper.

Got this while in Texas after hearing it was similar taste wise to MWND at half the price and much better availability. (Depending on where you are of course. ABC in VA doesn’t carry it.) I have to say, I think that is accurate.
