Anyone notice the new door handles/latches? Anyone have information on what makes them different or better than the existing ones?

Not sure, but they may just be black vs silver. Good catch! I had to watch the video again just to see.

They are much easier to open one handed than the originals. Also lockable from the inside. Definitely an improvement.

Good to know. Any knowledge of whether they can be retrofited? I've definitely found mine to be more difficult to open over time. Interior locking and unlocking would be nice also.

Good question. I can get some measurements later today for you to compare with the silvers. May wish be worth an ask of SP.

Try lubricating if you have trouble opening latches one handed. I appy boeshield T9 to mine when ever they start to get hard to open. Rear and one side I can easily open one handed. The other side still takes two even with lube. Pretty sure you can unlock at least from the inside.

Does anyone have a product for covering the tailgate window? Looking for something to deter "curious" folks in urban Seattle. Or can anyone provide dimensions on the tailgate window?

(Also, hi. First TW post. Truck on the way. X1 on the way.)

I've seen people use a simple string/curtain style. My window is very darkly tinted (came that way, not sure if they are still that dark) so I didn't do anything. I can send you dimensions later.

I just cut some reflectix to size and mounted it with Velcro.

I asked in the SP Forum and they replied that they aren’t different dimensions and would be difficult to retrofit.

Trying to figure out where/how to install Rotopax to my SP. any suggestions would be appreciated.
Wondering if side openings would be strong enough?
    Any photos of installs?
    Thanks!

The window is about 42" x 6.5" although a bit more trapezoid than rectangle. If you go with something like reflectix just cut to size once you have the truck.

I went with a simple curtain instead. Just a section of paracord tied across the top of the hatch. I got a piece of fabric from a craft store, cut to size and punched some grommets into it. Velcro in a few spots along the bottom to hold it in place.

When not in use I just pull to one side and tie it with double sided velcro, so I never lose it. Does not obstruct view out the back. At night when curtain is deployed you can't really tell it is there unless you shine a light on the window. In my mind it looks less low key than reflectix.

I ended up getting my window tinted since I had an older Glass one. Does a pretty good job on blocking light etc.

Side doors will be but you need to upgrade the struts or remove them when you want to open. I have my traction board and mount that are pretty similar to a larger rotopax. If I ever go on a very long trip I have considered adding mounts for some extra rotopax I have. That or I plan to mount on top of the camper. I used to run that on top before I had the camper. Lately I have just been tossing them in the bed but not ideal.

I dont like the idea of a moving item (liquid) sloshing around on a mount on the door. I just dont trust the aluminum to hold up over time. I have zero technical reasons to back this up.

I will say this, email SP and ask them what they think. Ive done this in the past to make sure there is enough strength for some interior mods and they always reply with an answer.

Good idea! I cannot add a spare tire carrier because I tow a 3,500 lb trailer a lot.
I’ll update what I hear from SP.

I'm trying to run some wires on the outside of the extrusion. Looking for ideas on how to keep them in the t-slots. So far anything I've found online is for a cable holder that is in the t-slot, but the cable is still out. Looking for something simple to just hold the cables in. I want to run a rear camera since the rearview mirror is kinda useless. Any one have any ideas for something out there that would work to hold the wires in the t-slots? The plan is to run the wire on the lower t-slot and then down between the cab and the X1, then to a grommet on the cab floor and into the cab.

Did y'all find that you needed to add aftermarket bed stiffeners to support the SP? I don't plan to do any serious wheeling, but plenty of washboard and rough Forest Service roads.

Thanks for all the info here so far!
