2” or 3” leveling kit for 3rd Gen

Deciding between a 2” & 3” level. Which is better? Main concern is putting unnecessary strain on front end parts with a 3”. ** i have a 3rd gen and am looking at the supreme suspension leveling kits on Extreme Terrain

 

depends what you’re using the truck for. Are you just looking to lift the front to level or the back and the front?

 

just the front end. I thought about doing the back but am not going to right now. Truck pretty much exclusively is a city/highway daily. Doesn’t see much off road

 

Go with 2" keeps your cv shafts in a decent spot. 2.5 is the max recommended lift on these trucks.

 

thats the same boat I’m in. I’m possibly going to do the 1” or 1.5” ,whatever it is, spacer from rough country that goes on the top of the strut. I had that on my 98 and even did a little offroad and it rode better than the 5100’s I put on, in my opinion.

 

Don't do it. The ride will be ruined and you'll wear stuff out sooner. If you do do it, replace the driver side needle bearing with the ECGS bushing because it will go bad like clockwork.

 

2WD OR 4WD?

 

My stock needle bearing is still fine after I lifted my truck 2” about a year ago. I’m not easy on my truck when off-road, front wheels were airborne a couple times.

IMO It’s a hit or miss with the needle bearing.

 

Same boat. Over a year ago, 2" of lift, no needle bearing problem at all. Things may change, but I beat on this thing as well.

I already feel my suspension bottom out when going fast over speed bumps/potholes. Lifted 2”.

isn’t that something that should be covered under warranty anyways? What even happens when that goes bad? Does it cause a vibration?

 

I did get my rig for cheaper since I whined to the dealer that it had a spacer lift. Removed it and all is well.

That's a shock issue. You need ext travel shocks and limit straps if you plan on getting the front wheels off the ground.

 

Your rake is only about 1.5" so if you go 2" or more you will be dragging ass and it will look stupid. Of course a leveled truck is stupid imo, but I won't go any further with that . The best way to just level it is Bilstein 5100 shocks with the fronts on the 4th notch. Stage 3 Motorsports has the set for $390 which is the cheapest I have seen.

 

1" up front will level the truck
2" up front will look like a Carolina squat
3" up front will give you problems down the road

2/1" is the best all-around lift, with least problems long term.
