So we're planned on going to Mammoth this weekend.
It'll be my first time heading that way - is 395 pretty much guaranteed to be closed?

Hard to say but it's sure gonna be snowing. There's an active winter storm watch through Saturday evening. The forecast is for scattered snow showers till Friday with steady snow showers Friday/Saturday. Possible heavy snow expected through the Sierra and between 12 and 20 inches forecast.

Travel is gonna be hard at best. Good luck!

Looking at almost of 100” of snow between now and next Wednesday at some of our facilities (~el.5000’). Going to be a wild week. The Mon-Wednesday storm is ratcheting up.

    Snow run?

    Palisades is our backup.
Hoping there's enough snow on Friday keeping people away - but that'll probably just bring the idiots out

Take a look at Mammoth forecast. If the high end forecast is correct we'll get 140 in. Yeah almost 12 fucking feet of snow in 5 days. I picked the perfect time to take my winter vacation. lol

That is a big yes. If it's open it will close at some point. The question is whether you want to risk getting stuck in Mammoth. Also, with the winds and snow totals, the upper mountain will not be open. Next weekend is probably a much better option

Yeah, stay away most likely (in the kindest manner). It's going to be a zoo. Especially with all the fresh snow. Everyone is going to want to get there. I was just outside and it's currently snowing pretty good. 6 inches at least since noon. This past weekend was a zoo and the snow sucked!

I just moved back to SF after 4 years here. I really miss living here. I'm heading back to SF on Saturday.
