Has anyone looked at doing 4 week T-bills? If I am reading it correctly, right now there you can get 4.5% return on a 4 week T-bill, seems like a pretty solid plan for money sitting around. We have a pretty good bit of cash that we just moved to a high interest savings account online and thought 4.5% annual was good.

Is that 4.5% in 4 weeks or is that "4.5% annual rate, for 4 weeks" (which is 0.375%, ish)

Because I am curious too. E fund is in 3.4% HYSA in Ally right now, which isn't that far off though.

^^^ don't overthink it. I'm in Ally, same shit different toilet. They might be different by 0.1% here and there, timing, etc - but in the end, that shouldn't make more than a few cents difference. If it does, you have too much in cash

Bonds are locked in - savings is accessible. You can ladder them, IE do 10% of your E-fund this month, then 10% next month, etc so that you have them rotating out. But they're "locked in" on bonds.

Right, locked in, but the T-bills vs. the bonds are only for 4 weeks, and you know the interest rate/return before you buy - pretty short term for guaranteed 4.5%, and if rates stay the same and you continue to reinvest all of that (and my math is right, which it very well may not be) that would be 69% annually?

I think I may be off, just looking at these for the first time. The auctions available now show cost per $100 is 99.65 for 4 week, 99.29 for 8 week, so I think that would be .25% for 4 weeks - 3% annual equivalent, or .7% for 8 week, 4.27% annual equivalent
